Not to mention Michelle. A real husband says he loves his wife and would never do anything to hurt her or mess up his marriage. Not “gee, I don’t want to get caught.”
Yep. Incredibly telling. On top of that, Couric's question wasn't even about him or his marriage. She asked him about other people's infidelity.
"I have no idea, because my attitude is...I'm in public..."
His response was completely at odds with a person's normal reaction to behavior they'd never consider. He equates marital infidelity with picking his nose. It's not wrong, just unsanitary and unseemly, nothing more. Swap out any other transgression for infidelity, and the significance of his response becomes even more apparent:
Couric: "Why do you think people risk so much by trafficking in drugs or child porn?"
Obama: "I have no idea, because my attitude is the more I'm in public, I mean, I don't even want to pick my nose, you know. It's, I mean, I'm assuming everybody's watching."
