the junction of AZ84 and I-10 is about 30 mi west of the red star on your map. Very remote area. Smuglers go up 84 to AZ 347. They can avoid the check points on I-10 going into pheonix.

Great. We're moving to Maricopa, which is on 347, in June. Good thing we finally armed ourselves a few years ago....

There are no check points that I know of. There are coming up from Nogales and on 90 North of Sierra Vista. After that, it’s wide open.
