Politicians, and others, put their lovers on the payroll to pay them off. Yep, just like Jesse Jackson ...
Jesse Jackson amends tax returns to reveal payments to his mistress
March 9, 2001
Mr Jackson, who appeared to weather the storm that broke last month when he admitted to fathering a child with Ms Stanford, was answering allegations by critics that the modesty of his declared income appeared incompatible with his lifestyle.
At a press conference, Mr Jackson said he was changing his tax return to show money paid to Ms Stanford as salary and severance. Initially the money was not declared, although Ms Stanford was reported to have been paid $35,000 in "removal expenses" to transfer to California from the Washington office which she managed and continued to receive a salary after she moved.
Mr Jackson also pays Ms Stanford $3,000 a month in child support for their daughter, who is now two. The documents triggered a fresh outburst of criticism, partly because they appeared incomplete, but mainly because they showed how dependent Mr Jackson's causes are on the corporate concerns he frequently condemns. |
