Frontpage Interviews guest today is Robert Buchar, an associate professor and author of the Cinematography Program at Columbia College in Chicago. A political refugee from former Czechoslovakia, he is the producer of the documentary, Velvet Hangover, which is about Czech New Wave filmmakers, how they survived the period of normalization and their reflections on the so-called Velvet Revolution of 1989. He is the author of the new book, And Reality be Damned
Undoing America: What The Media Didnt Tell You About the End of the Cold War and Fall of Communism in Europe. The book is based on a documentary feature he is currently working on, The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story. FP: Robert Buchar, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
You have some quite startling things to say about the fall, or lack thereof, of the Soviet Empire in the period 1989-1991. What is it that we dont know about the collapse of communism as it has been described to us in the media?

Communism was NOT defeated.
Communism successfully seized the American academic bureaucracy, the corrupt media, the democrat party, and finally (on January 2009) the apparatus of the United States government.
Communism is yet to be defeated.

The communist locust plague ran out of fuel in eastern Europe and came to graze here in the US instead.

Being 64 years old, I've heard and read about communism since I can remember. We've heard all the horror stories from WW1 through the Cold War about Communism...and I believe them all to be true.
Now there is the young generation, and the media - the two biggest examples of "educated" Naiveté on the planet - who somehow get the idea that Communists are just misunderstood members of planet Utopia.
To me, it is something that is passe'; it's like going to school in 2010 to learn to work on tube-based, black and white analog television...except for the young, media stupids, there is really no market for it.
The question is, with the majority of America being the baby-boomers who lived through what I lived through, do we just sit down and let the "young stupids" change our whole system of government? Granted, I don't know a lot we can do other than protests and blogs...but it seems that voters should be looking around for candidates who weren't raised on "The Simpsons" or "Married with Children".
Reality is a bitch, but it will eventually claim us, one and all...even the young-stupids. Communism is NOT human nature compatible; especially humans who have lived in a free society for most of their lives.
All the freebies sound great up front, but the wise and thoughtful people know as soon as you take the cheese, trap slams shut....gotcha.
So, I think what has "collapsed" is the warnings and the truth ABOUT communism; the young-stupids have repackaged it into "Progressive" to make it sound different than your Father's communism...but believe me...it's one and the same. It's REgressive, Oppressive, and AGressive...but it will never be PROgressive - except for the leaders.

From the Interview:
Deception is an essential part of communist ideology. It is a central part of communism and it will continue to be like this.
Nothing has changed.

This was an interesting interview.
It provides the background for what a lot of us already think about the Obama Presidency and his being a tool for socialist ideology.
