Sportswriter Dave Zirin is calling for a boycott against the Arizona Diamondbacks because of the state's new immigration law. MSNBC Anchor Tamron Hall frets that MLB players of Latino descent may be profiled and "pulled over" because of their appearance.

You just can’t make this stuff up. These folks are DESPERATE and will say or do anything to prevent ILLEGALS from being deported.
Who in the hell is Dave Zirin? I’ve followed baseball for 40 years ad I have never heard of him....and this moron thinks that he is relevant?
Bleh. Keep your politics out of my sports!! I love how they’re soooo concerned about the Latin ballplayers...who are all here legally and would be shipped back to their native countries if they weren’t.
I also heard on the radio today that someone (not sure who, didn’t catch the first part of the report) thinks it would be a wonderful idea for MLB to move all of their spring training facilities out of Arizona in protest. I started cracking up. The owners would throw total fits if MLB were to even mention doing anything like that.
Ok, if we pretend that Hispanics (Mexicans) do not compromise 80% of the illegals in America, let’s ask this question about illegal immigration - If America is determined to NOT enforce its immigration laws to encourage more Hispanics to invade America, would the same sentiments be expressed if the majority of illegals in America were from western Europe? Would there be the same outrage against Arizona “ racially profiling” illegals if 80% of those illegals were from England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Finland, Holland, Denmark, etc., etc., etc.???
Inquiring minds . . . . . . .
According to a comment made at the link, Zirin writes about politics in sports for the Nation magazine, the Progressive magazine, and is a regular columnist for the LA Times.
Hey, Vaud - with ya all the way!! Already boycott some of ‘em but haven’t got to the CA wine - now that we like FR, ought to be easy...
Don’t talk to him.
I predict this will work to Zirin’s detriment. Most sports fans like their sports pure, not mixed with some idiot’s politics.
Typical commie fag. Blame it on a baseball team. What a mucking foron.
An immigration proposal by three Democratic senators calls for more federal enforcement agents and other border security-tightening benchmarks before illegal immigrants could become legal U.S. residents, according to a draft of the legislation obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press. The bill is being developed by Reid of Nevada, Chuck Schumer of New York and Robert Menendez of New Jersey.
The three stooges writing an immigration bill. You know what this bill will do? Give amnesty, money, and benefits to illegals — oh also the right to vote (RAT)!!
No one can EVER get me to boycott the Arizona Diamondbacks for ANY reason.
I’m a major-league Curt Schilling fan (in both Arizona and Boston)!!!!

a columnist for SLAM Magazine, and The Progressive
Zirin maintains the opinion that the aggressive hatred toward the use of steroids by Barry Bonds is due to racist whites not wanting Bonds to surpass Babe Ruth.
On Oct. 13, 2009, Rush Limbaugh denied saying what Zirin, and others, had quoted him saying: “Slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”
What was it that Obozo and the libs were saying about fear mongering? The GOP cannot hold a candle to the fear mongering from the left.
Well, actually, I’d have to give that award to Olbermann.
I think that there’s just one question this sportscaster needs to be asked, with utmost seriousness: “What is MSNBC?”
"Dave Zirin is an angry young man, and he's not bashful about telling you why -- no quarter asked, no holds barred. In his new book, What's My Name, Fool?, he calls out the many inequities he sees on the level playing fields.
"FOR EVERYONE who cheered Alis stinging jab and right cross to U.S. imperialisms chin, for everyone who loved basketball player Etan Thomass speech denouncing the Bush administration at the September 24 antiwar demonstration, for everyone who shudders at the stupidities of the sports industry and yet still enjoys playing and watching sports, Dave Zirins Whats My Name, Fool? is the book for you. Its a knockout!" Ashley Smith; Socialist Worker Newspaper
This could possibly lead to Chase Field having a record attendance at the next D-Backs home game :>)
Isn’t tyranny grand?
