I think the free EVERYTHING they get is better pay than Meh-he-ho
I hear how they don’t take the jobs people DO want. Then I hear about how they better themselves with education and a desire to work hard and get ahead.
At which point they ARE competing for the jobs people “do” want and a NEW wave of low cost immigrant labor must be brought in to take up the slack.
It is bad policy to believe this can go on forever. Especially in an economy in decline and a business environment where high tech jobs are being relocated offshore.
I’ll never understand why a company that won’t let me telecommute is willing to offshore teleconference with overseas (and offshift) workers. Clearly some of it comes down to pay but even beyond that are the benefits and protections that companies are obligated (sometimes by law) to have for employees.
