But the Federalist Papers have many references to Democracy, all bad.

In the Federalist papers we're covering in the next few weeks, a democracy is contrasted with a republic. The result is that the conditions for a democracy are different from the conditions for a republic. It's scholarly criticism, not a condemnation.
