WASHINGTON (AP) - Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says Arizona's new immigration law could siphon federal money and staff needed to go after dangerous immigrants. Napolitano says Immigration and Customs Enforcement fears it will have to use its stretched resources to deal with those arrested under Arizona's new law. She testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. The law allows police to question people about their immigration status if they have reason to suspect they are in the country illegally. President Barack Obama has called the new law "misguided," and critics say it will lead to racial profiling. Supporters say it is needed to stem illegal immigration. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below. WASHINGTON (AP)—Senators are expected to question Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about the ramifications of Arizona's tough new immigration law when she appears for an oversight hearing. The Senate Judiciary Committee already had planned the hearing for the Homeland Security Department. Last week Arizona's governor signed a law requiring police to question people about their immigrant status if they suspect they are in the U.S. illegally. Napolitano's department oversees border security. President Barack Obama has called the new law "misguided." Arizona officials say the law is necessary because the federal government has failed to stop the steady stream of illegal immigrants.

Maybe they could slice away a small bit of the SEC’s “porn pie” to cover the expense??

I know, it sounds crazy,...but I’m just sayin’!

The federal government is broken. We have an ignorant, arrogant fool in the White House. He is surrounded by brain-dead jackasses, and our so-called “representatives” in the House and Senate are dumb, incompetent, and dishonest.

The remedy is built into the Constitution: more states should assert their sovereignty by passing laws such as Arizona’s immigration law, passing laws such as Florida’s health care freedom law, and by inundating the federal government in law suits - such as the suit filed by about 14 state attorneys general saying that ObamaCare is unconstitutional.

In November, we the people need to clean house.
The federal government is destroying our economy and our freedom.

So the Feds are admitting they’re purposefully slacking off on enforcing our border?!

This (border enforcement) is one of the few enumerated powers that the Federal Govt. is supposed to have. But instead they think that they should dabble in health care and everything else!

Ah, that makes sense. AZ is taking up the slack for what the Feds refuse to do and that will stretch the Fed's budget. /s

No she is saying that the feds don’t have the detention beds, staffing, transportation or infrastructure to take and remove all the illegal aliens they are expecting to get dumped on them. She’s right, “they can’t answer mail.” This is what happens when you ignore a problem long enough.

The interesting part will come when the state and locals have a bunch of illegals in custody and ICE simply does not come to pick them up. There is nothing in federal law that requires ICE to respond to other agencies accept in the case when the locals have a known aggravated felon. As for the rest of the aliens they simply won’t show up.
