Praise the Lord, you’re all right!

I almost called it a night!!!

Thank you for checking here!!!

We’ve all prayed for you and have been very concerned.

Still no word from VetVetDoug, however.

If I recall correctly, VetVetDoug is in the Corinth area. Our local news is very local in these instances so they didn’t say anything about any storms up that way. I watched radar showing one cell going thru that area but no reports.

Hey Islander7. Columbus and Macon appear to have dodged any significant damage this time. Have heard a couple of stories of a store, homes and high school in Hamilton being destroyed but have not been able to confirm. Starkville had a couple track through with reports of hail and a tornado. Lost cable tv and internet before I could get any damage info.

We had a total of four tornado warnings in Alcorn County and I spent only two thirty minute stints in the storm shelter. Most of the turbulent cells passed East of Corinth but one did go over us. Prayers to those that were injured and to the loved ones that have passed. We have been lucky up here, it could have been us.

April 10, 1979 in Wichita Falls...know it well. I am originally from Burkburnett and my Sister was manager of the Burger King at the corner of Kemp & Kell and was on the 3-11 shift. She spent the night directing traffic at the intersection until the police could man it...my Mother was a nurse at Bethany and saw the ones from Vernon to Wichita that were injured.

Is that an effect of shear winds, where the jet stream is dipping and lower, while water vapor is being pulled up into the jet and then spit out in advance of a major front differential?

Thank you so much for the pings! I watched that super cell move across Missippy on the Weather Channel today, and prayed mightily for those in harm’s way.

Magnolia...it was just north of Meridian...PTL! My family is fine and, in fact, they went to a performance at the Riley Center tonight.

WKB...I haven’t read the thread, but I hope you and your family are okay.

I’ve been thinking about you and your family all day, and praying for your safety.

I’m so happy to know that all is relatively well...all is GOOD considering what could have happened!

Terrible. The only bright spot is that Haley Barbour is Governor and will have the rescue/recovery well in hand.

Wise voters, there in MS.

So glad you and yours are safe..
I will never forget that 79 storm..We finally found my son and his 8 mos pregnant wife the next morning. We had driven throught the stormy night to Wichita Falls. The Lord looked after we fools on a mission.
We had seen the devastation to their apartment during the night..The next morning we got the first look at empty house slabs along the route...It was a killer tornado indeed.
I pray for those who are injured, lost lost loved ones and their homes.

Oh...ok. The death toll is still at ten this morning according to reports so hopefully Starkville wasn’t hit very bad.

That is wierd. I never seen hail like that either. It didn’t really get bad in our area in DFW when it came through about 3:00 am yesterday. Just rain. I woke up and checked the radar and warnings and went back to bed.

The look on Gov. Barbour’s face (on the TV reports) told the whole story. He is a man of great compassion.

My heart goes out to all who lost loved ones. Esp. the family that lost three children.

Oh dear, I hadn’t heard about that family (haven’t had news on today). There are no word to describe.

May the Holy Spirit bring special comfort to those grieving parents and family members.

Update on damage in Hamilton MS: Heard from my Farm Bureau insurance agent this afternoon. There are numerous homes damaged or destroyed along Hamilton and Grubb Roads in the small town of Hamilton MS. Hamilton is about 10-15 miles north of Columbus on Hwy 45 between Columbus and Tupelo. Remember these folks in your prayers. The NerdDad double-wide is undamaged. Just don’t have cable or internet. Posting this update from my Droid phone so please forgive errors.
