Democrat Veterans Protest Biden's Visit (Specter ad against Sestak)

A group of Democrats gathered outside the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Friday but they were not there in support of Senator Arlen Specter and Vice President Joe Biden.

They were there in protest.

Never, ever should a veteran denigrate the career of another veteran, especially on faceless, anonymous allegations," said Captain Bill Walsh, U.S. Navy retired.

About 15 people gathered outside the airport voicing their anger over Biden's support for Senator Arlen Specter.

It all stems from a TV ad run by Specter's campaign claiming his rival, Democrat Joe Sestak, has a poor military service record.

John Bury spent 22 years in the service and said the ad is a disgrace. "It crosses a line, a line that should not be crossed. He is not only discrediting Joe Sestak, but he's discrediting all veterans with that ad," Bury said.

The demonstrators had tickets to the rally and even attempted to present a letter to the vice president questioning his campaign for Specter.

Julie Harris McCrey, who has a niece serving in the Navy, would like to see the ad removed. "It is besmirching everyone who has risked their lives, and was under his command to denigrate him, to denigrate that uniform, and to denigrate all that were in that uniform," McCrey said.

Newswatch 16 talked to Senator Specter after the rally. He said the ad is nothing but fact.

"When Congressman Sestak ran a commercial touting his military service he raised the issue about exactly what happened and the facts are, as shown by the Navy Times, is that he was let go for poor command climate," said Senator Specter.

Organizers said they were unable to give a copy of the letter directly to Vice President Biden but they did give it to members of his staff who said they will pass it on to the vice president.

There were only 15 protestors, but the return of Joe Biden to his "hometown" for the first time since taking office reportedly only had around 200-300 attending.

Democrat Veterans

I bet they wouldn't say squat if the opponent was a Republican...At the end of the day they are still Democrats.

Arlen Specter represents everything that is wrong with our careerist congressional system.

He is a disgusting, self-aggrandizing POS and he is Exhibit #1 in support of the proposition that no one should ever vote for a senator who has already been in office for 12 years or more.

I bet they wouldn't say squat if the opponent was a Republican...At the end of the day they are still Democrats.

Where were they when DemonRAT John Murtha -- referring to our Marines in Iraq -- said:
"they killed innocent civilians in cold blood"

Or when DemonRAT John sKerry said:
American troops terrorize women and children and that they should stop...because that's the job of the Iraqi military.
-and-
Or how about when Turban Durbin compared our military members to
"Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime Pol Pot and others."

WHERE WERE THEY THEN?!

Murtha [spit] was refering to enlisted Marines, so it was ok.

said Captain Bill Walsh, U.S. Navy retired.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of the folks protesting were former officers that graduated from were idoctrinated in one liberal college or another..... and yes, I'm including the Naval Academy.

The rest were probably AA promted.

Captain Bill Walsh needs to do more research. When Mullens became CNO he fired Sestak within 24 hours of taking the job, for poor command climate. That is Navy slang for "He's a flaming @$$hole." Everybody in the Navy knew it.

One needs to realize the implications of a flag going after another guy in the flag club when there isn't any political pressure to do so. Sestak is a jerk who worked his way up within the Clinton Administration and was backed by Sandy (socks) Berger's people to kick out Curt Weldon.
