Common thread is TV and tabloid culture plus sports TV programming that has turned the Uk and USA into serfdom countries. TV controls the populace. TV news has tons of power but fools keep paying the cable bills to enslave themselves.

Ours has been off for years now. It's hooked to a DVD player for the occasional flick (the last one watched being "Ben Hur"). Now it just annoys me, especially at a business where they have CNN on. It makes me want to rip the thing off the wall.

In the early 60’some FCC chairman complained about television being a “vast wasteland”. This Wasteland incuded “Gunsmoke”, “Star Trek”, “Twilight Zone”, and “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour”, to name a few. In the previous decade (the “early days of TV) they had weekly shows included shows like Kraft Theater and Robert Montgomery Presents. These featured plays by people like Eugene O’Neill, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Arthur Miller. It was also common to find Shakespeare, Opera, on the three major networks, and there was Toscanini’s NBC Symphony. These were sponsored by big companies like Texaco. And I’ll bet that the budgets must have been miniscule compared to the resources poured into the endless homogeneous, politically correct dung served up by our cable networks.

OK, three are a few exceptions. I join the wife for “ 24”, and occasionally NCIS (Pretty good stories with some comic relief). And there’s some great stuff on the Science, History, and Military channels.

But look at the enormity of the lame, silly garbage cranked out and there’s no question that our culture is in a bottomless downward spiral.
