Palin Testifies At E-Mail Hacking Trial

Sarah Palin testified Friday against a 22-year-old man accused of hacking into her e-mail account, saying later it's up to the judge to decide whether he should serve prison time if convicted.
Palin testified that the hacking compromised one of the main ways she communicated with her family back in Alaska as she campaigned in 2008 as the Republican vice presidential candidate. Outside the courthouse, when asked whether she thought community service was punishment enough rather than prison, she said, "That's up to the judge."
Former University of Tennessee student David Kernell faces up to 50 years in federal prison if convicted of identity theft, mail fraud and two other felony charges. His lawyer has called the case a prank, not a crime.

Not to mention the crap he put Sarah's kids through. >:-(
If that had happened to BO&MO's girls, this guy would be up for the death penalty for RACISM.
Two faced hypocrites. >:-( Community service is a slap on the wrist. This guy KNEW he was committing identity theft and there was malice aforethought in the whole CRIME. 50 years? Yeah. With probation after 10 if he keeps his nose clean.
BAM!

Not a word concerning Kernell's affiliations or possible sponsors, nor what he intended to do with the improperly gained information.
Thats the FIRST place the media slime would go if it were Joe Biden that got hacked.

Yes, and your nieces are not in college.
I choose not to comment on his nature. All I know about him is what he had done on the web. This event triggered my first post on Free Republic. I was caught up in the mess because of a post I made in a Blog in TN. Made the mistake of using my real name and e-mail address.

50 years may be too steep but identity theft is a serious crime. It was no prank.

I think reason will win the day; 50 seems a bit much to me to, but in the end the law is the law and it is so frequently subverted these days.
If you’ve seen pics of this kid, you’ll note that he would not last more than 2 years anyway.
It’s unfortunate, but he was probably under undo influence of his father.
To: incredulous joe
I have a feeling you’re right.
This kid will probably get some time while his father has no worries.

His lawyer has called the case a prank, not a crime.
I've also heard the "It was only a joke..." defense, too, from some people. Sometimes they say, "I was only joking..." -- usually said after being caught, doncha know ... :-)

You were saying ...
50 years seems a bit steep.
Don't worry, after he gets through with the 50 years... they'll say they were only "playing a prank on him" anyway ... LOL ...
I think that should "make everything okay" -- doncha know ... :-)
