Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is nearing a Saturday deadline to decide what action she may take on the state's immigration bill, considered to be among the toughest legislation in the nation.
What would the Arizona legislation do?
Arizona's bill orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.
It also targets those who hire illegal immigrant laborers or knowingly transport them.

This is what the Federal Government should be doing. There is nothing irresponsible in the Arizona law no matter how many lies Obama speaks about it.

Has she taken a position on this, as so many others outside Arizona have?

Doesn't Federal law require aliens to carry certain documents with them at all times? Most foreign governments require aliens (and often citizens) to carry a passport or other document.

In the old days, if you were an immigrant and had not qualified for a passport/citizenship, you had to carry your Alien ID card, along with your license, if you had one.
Never had to show mine.
But there is no govt in the world that has shown less respect for its own borders as the USG visavis the Mexican border.
The amazing thing is that it’s taken so long for people to wake up.

BTW...What's Miss Palin's position on this bill?No clue.
But then again, I don't think anyone knows what Palin's true position is on immigration, particularly since she tends to talk out of both sides of her mouth on such matters.

She's for and against it.

ANYBODY : “ Sarah, you said you were against amnesty. What would you do, specifically, with the 20 million illegal immigrants that are already here? “

She already answered that question. She believes in giving them a path to citizenship. Anyone who says she was being disingenuous because she was campaigning, is calling her a liar.

Much of the problem of illegals could be cured by imposing prison sentences on anyone employing them. One year per illegal employed ought to do it. And of course, remove illegals from welfare/health care freebies. Finally, no more anchor babies.

BTW...What's Miss Palin's position on this bill? I haven't heard her speak on any of these issues lately. Maybe I'm just missing it, I'm not a news junkie so it's possible.

Sheriff Joe is going to have a field day with this! This bill directly gives him authority to enforce federal law and to force the feds to do the same.
