btw the real Riverdale High, it’s said, is Haverhill High School in Haverhill MA, where Bob Montana attended (my own father was a student there for about half a year before moving, in the late 30s). To this day the Eagle-Tribune of nearby Lawrence calls it “Haverhill’s Archie”. The Riverdale name came from the NYC area though

Real life Haverhill citizens inspired characters. The name of Veronica Lodge came from Veronica Lake (actress) and the
Boston area Brahmin family, the Lodges. Pop’s Choklit Shoppe was based on a real life teen hangout in the city.

And just to show you how much time flies, it’s now been 41 years since the cartoon series based on the strip launched a faux rock group (with Ron Dante, of Leader of the Laundromat, “Tracy”, and Barry Manilow fame) that hit #1 with Sugar Sugar. 41 years ago folks!
