Whoa! Can you provide a link for the ‘declined the bible’ line?
I did not hear the he actively declined to be sworn in with the Bible, although that is a possibility. What I read was that during the (not terribly public) instance of him being sworn in, a Bible **was not used**, for whatever reason.
The natural question MIGHT be, “Well was it a Koran..?” and I do not know, although I verrrry richly doubt it.
Some here have suggested that the Bible was simply forgotten, but I do believe that the swearing in took place at the White House, and....I’m no expert, but I think it’s reasonable that there would be at least a single copy of the Bible on hand somewhere, right...?
I think it is POSSIBLE he “refused” it, to use your word.
At one juncture he did refuse to wear an American flag pin —something that is curious, but I would not classify as extreme treachery...
Cr@p..! I DID say he DECLINED the Bible...! Sorry about that - THAT IS WRONG.
But the notion that a Bible was not used —I stick by that.
