The South Park creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have issued a statement in response to Comedy Centrals decision to alter an episode after a Muslim groups warning:
In the 14 years weve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldnt stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasnt some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyles customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didnt mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too.

That’s what I thought at first too.
I don’t even think it was so horrible and un-PC based on Matt and Trey’s description.
It’s much more exciting to see how far you can push the envelope on broadcast TV. That’s the thrill. It’s the whole point to see how far you can push the envelope of social commentary.
Otherwise you end up like Howard Stern. You could be an irrelevant lib.
I wonder if they would go the exact opposite way. Do an alternate universe episode (with everyone in goatees of course) where there is nothing offensive about it at all. Basically a castrated version of the show.
Understandable. As I said on one of these threads, I have lost track of all of them by now. Usually Jesus is pretty sympathetic as a character, granted even He takes His name in vain but he is saving the day and under appreciated through the series. It is only in these cases where they are making a point about CC and Islam that he does something messed up. Your response is the correct one, to not watch instead of to get mad about it and threaten people with violence.
Seems to have been pretty compatible this time.
Not admirable or appropriate, but compatible with the way things are today.
As a fellow Christian you will turn the other cheek as Jesus taught. You won’t blow crap up andthreaten to kill people
As a Buddhist or whichever religious figure was snorting coke you would have a sense of humor and meditate.
Muslim fundamentalist are different.
Exactly. We metaphorically throw around the phrase "That is not the hill you want to die on"....
But in this case that is a literal and distinct possibility.
It's also why Islam is incompatible with all things good and decent.
Then again, we all know giving the school bully our lunch money makes him go away... /s
To call someone Mohammed, Muhammed, or any of the other variations of the name, is too obscene to be depicted on TV. And people unfortunate to be named that are laughed at behind their back. No one would ever admit this to Muslims, however, as it is too disgusting.
Im sure Muslims would be delighted to know that this is why Comedy Central censored the use of that name.
ROTFLMAO
Good point about the lunch money.
Thanks, Combat Economist.
