Filibuster for me but not for thee.

Let them try, it will be easier to de-construct Obamacare later.

...because of the filibuster rule, they hopefully
don’t have the votes to end the filibuster rule.
-
wiki sez:
The term “filibuster” was first used in 1851.
It was derived from the Spanish filibustero, which translates as “free booter” or “pirate”.
The term was applied at the time to American adventurers,
who sought to overthrow the governments of Central American states,
and was transferred to the use of the filibuster in debate,
which was seen as a tactic for pirating or hijacking the debate.

Don’t they need 67 votes for that to happen?

The magnitude of the damage that they will do if they kill the filibuster is staggering to the point in which what happens in November will not matter! You are about to watch a complete and total make over of the Republic into a Socialist/Fascist state! The death of the Republic is near at hand.

Are they going to eliminate it just till the end of Obama's term or forever?

They're so desperate to complete the devil's work...but this is their last stand. We take control in 2010.

Thanks for the info: I see powerful political ads out of those quotes. Strong music like that America Rising video - quick cuts of photos of the offenders as their quotes sound off in the background.... We should send them thank-you notes. And we should ask the French if they still have any guillotines left that we can borrow. The way these *ssh&les are behaving - we might very well need them. Come to think of it, didn’t the French help us the last time too? Funny how that works, round and round we go...

Would a move like this be enough for Lindsey Graham to stop prancing around with John Kerry on Cap’n Trade and Amnesty?

Make the 2010 Senate races a referendum on ObamaCare.

No Filibuster: No Obamacare on January 20, 2011.

Where in the Constitution does it say the country is to be ruled by parliamentary procedures? These games are being played by bozo’s who have no idea what they’re doing.

I see nothing that would prevent the Senate from eliminating the filibuster at the start of the 2011 session. The filibuster, after all, is not defined in the Constitution, but is simply a Senate rule; the Constitution expressly states that no such rules from one Congress are binding on a future Congress. It has long been customary that each new Senate will agree to the filibuster rule, and will agree that future rule changes in that Senate will require a 2/3 vote. If the current Senate so agreed, they should be so bound.

The Filibuster is Senate Rule #22. Under current Senate Rules - I think it takes two-thirds [67] to change a rule. Don’t know how the DEMs are gonna do it. And, if they do - they better watch out for what they wish for ... they just might get it. And the next time they are out of power in the Senate - they will be whining to get it back ...

I'm curious what their end game is? Perhaps they think they need to jettison the filibuster to pass Amnesty and Cap and Trade. They have probably calculated that if they pass them the Republicans won't be able to revoke them until 2012, at which point it will be too late. It's now or never for the Democrats.

I'm sure they are looking for a loophole that will allow them to change the rules without a 2/3 majority vote.
