Because your comment seemed to indicate a lack of understanding of the military profession.
As you adapted from the harsh reality of that nasty ear problem, the military, as an institution, must adapt to changing social mores. For example, I began my Army service in 1960 when any pregnant service member [regardless of marital status] was discharged. When I retired in 1984, the Army had developed a maternity uniform. That is culture shock.
Despite the changing culture there are fundamentals that do not change. The military justice system, as embodied in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, is one of those fundamentals that evens the playing field.
Although I disagreed with the charges, they passed legal muster. The results of the trial, IMO, reveals that the playing field was evened.
My ire remains directed at legislators, at all levels of government, who foist BS laws upon individuals and institutions.
Amen!!! It’s sad when the people protecting us have to watch for enemies from one direction and the lawyers/Politicians who sent them to war from the other.
the current prosecution of soldiers is an ACTIVE action to demoralize our combat effectiveness at the moment of combat. By always having in the back of your mind whether to be an aggressively involved combatant or just sit back, cover your a$$ and hope it all turns out alright is the difference between a warrior and some needle d*cked, pencil pushing REMF.
Of course that's only my opinon and you mileage may differ ....etc. Your other point is correct , I have NO CLUE as to how the Army is as a miltary profession. I wasn't in the Army or a lawyer or an officer.
Prosecuting SEALs such as these is a complete waste of time, men and tax dollars. These needless prosecutions also endanger our men on the ground by putting a JAG behind every movement they make. Not literally necessarily, just psychologically. Either way it risks our troops lives and hurts moral and mission.
Obama has only made the problem 1000 times worse with his special treatment and appeasement of America's enemies. Which is directly connected with this sadist who killed our American contractors feeling free to throw accusations at and going after our SEALs indirectly by trying to cause problems for them. Trying to get even with the Men who captured his sick jihadist arse. He's lucky he's alive! He should be bowing down and kissing these SEAL's merciful feet.
The most unbelievable part of it all is that anyone in the Navy played along with his sick game and tried to punish our men for doing their job and using a military court to do it. Enabling at it worst! They are only encouraging more of this crap in the future from the enemies of America and our Troops.
P.S. They just aquited the second accused SEAL, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Keefe, has been aquited per FOX news. Good!

I waited all day for that. With these guys cleared, they should drop the charges against the third. It doesn’t make sense to keep on with this farce.
I am glad these brave SEALS chose to fight this rather than accept administrative punishement. And we have Sgt. Hutchins whose conviction was just overturned by a military court.
SSgt. Frank Wuterich’s trial for Haditha, (may murtha rot in hell,) is still scheduled for September.

Nevertheless, there is a massive difference between the way things are and the way things should be. [Rush wrote a book to that effect, I believe.] Thus, one adapts and trades in his horse for an MBT and does his job to the best of his ability or one gets the f**k out.

you are correct, sir. You are absolutely correct. My son will not follow in his grandfather, his father or his uncles profession. The chances of my son possibly getting into either Force Recon or MARSOC then being dragged through a trial for doing his duty makes me steer him away from serving. He has 3 years till college and I'm hoping that our teleprompter reader in chief and all the butt-sniffers serving him in the Pentagon get a taste for playing outside the wire. It would be such sweet justice to see the wheat and the chaff get separated by the winds. You were in the Army so you know what I mean.
In the first year or so of a real war most of the warriors are lucky survivors and the ones that entered the Army for the benefits...... well not so much.

You mentioned pregnant soldiers in a previous post. I'm thinking about how many thousands of useless dregs are non-deployable and need to get the f-out. But what the JAG and the butt sniffers are doing is making it harder for those of the warrior mindset to stay in and those of the "CYA" type to lick their way to the top of the heap.
I'm old, have a new ear-drum and can still scoot, shoot and fight. But I'd be wary of what I was signing up for in the current PC military.
All it takes is one bad apple, one "in it for myself" to get your fire-team or platoon killed. Now it seems that it only takes one "disgruntled" muzzie pig f#cker to get you brought up on felony charges, locked in the brig and end your career.
So it goes. I think Powell, Sweet Wesley Clark, Murtha, Kerry and the fake former Marine, Dan Rather are the ones that represent the current leadership qualities of sophistication, nuance and patriotism wanted in the Armed Forces.
They and all the others involved in this cluster f#@$ of a trial, can f-off for all I care. I'm just sorry that some of my classmates are in the Corps still, but we're all grown men, we've made our promises, owe are debts to our honor and we know that we all have to serve somebody.
I staunchly defend the military as an institution. Having said that, I agree that many folks at all levels of the uniformed hierarchy are greater liabilities than they are assets. Whenever I visit my local installation, I am appalled at what I see and can only hope that they are at least proficient in their MOS. Conversely, I see a lot of folks from all the services who exude a magnificent professional demeanor.
When you reflect upon it, I suspect you cannot name any private or public institution that does not have its share of assholes.
