“I said the US has a right look out for her interests, and Israel a right to look after hers. “
Agreed.
“I also said it should not just be assumed we would allow Israel to use US controlled airspace, when it may put US troops in harm’s way, or conflict with our security interests. This is my entire point”
Agreed.
“That was a rhetorical and sarcastic remark designed to put you personally (hypothetically) in the position of being engaged by foreign powers based on who they were and without any US recourse or discussion.....
That was a cheap shot and I apologize. “
I didn’t take it that way so no need to apologize. But I apologize for overreacting to your post on the Liberty. I’ve had bad experiences with some posters on that subject and am over-sensitive. I’m sorry.
There are many things we'll never have the answers too. I don't buy into anything being 100% when it comes to stuff like this. A lot of folks think Israel would never ever do anything to us.... Israel will look out for Israel and if we get in the way oh well; however, the possiblity remains they may get in the way of our policies.....
Case in point, Saddam tried to attack Israel (with scuds) during the Gulf War in order to sucker Israel into the war; thus "forcing" other Arab nations to relaiate against Israel in order to save face with their civilian populations.
We put our interests first and basically told Israel to "suck it up" that we would handle it. Israel showed restraint in not retailiating against Iraq.
