It's extremely sad that many, many Americans view NYC as a traitorous foreign occupation, pumping out wave after wave of HATRED for the rest of the country.

What's wrong with that? It seems to be a justifiable position.

Yes. Unfortunately, New Yorkers brought that on themselves with their 'better than you', the 'world revolves around Times Square', arrogant attitude. But ironically once New Yorkers leave, they don't want to go back. They see how FUBAR that place really is. And how wrong they were about 'fly over country' and 'Midwestern Hicks'.

I've personally known two Professionals who fit that bill to a tee.

One was Chief Mech Engineer assigned to Chicago for a major Building Project. Initially he was your typical, 'my poop didn't stink' New Yorker. But after 18 months in Chicago he didn't want to leave. And when you went to his office in Sears Tower to see him' he'd be walking around with his shoes off --something he'd never consider in NY. AND he lost 'the attitude'.

The other was a Chief Estimator for a Construction Trade, originally in Chi, 'temporarily' for a Project. But when it was complete he didn't want to go back. He found a job in the Chi area and stayed. When we first met he was the same, he 'knew everything', and we were 'the hicks'. I told him something like 'Okay, but its you who talk funny, not us'. We became friends and he stayed in the Chi area for about five years. Then construction hit a dead end here and he had to go back to NYC. He dreaded that.

Maybe the 'arrogance problem' started, or grew 1010 due to that dumb 'NY, NY' song; 'If you can make it there you can make it anywhere'.

Bullcrap.
