I want to know where he got the money to pay for it. When he became president, he was not a millionaire, and his salary is under $300k/yr.

There have been over 60 cases.
One Obama lawyer, Mr. Woocher, said he was working pro bono, and he has been represented in several instances by DOJ lawyers, so my guess is that he has laid out very little if any of his own money.
