I just re-confirmed it with hubby, who just got home. He was in the USAF for 26 years. Any time you’re wearing the uniform, on or off duty, you are NOT supposed to be involved in anything political.
The years leading up to November 2008 softened and manipulated the battlefield sufficiently to finally install the candidate that had been modeled and designed for decades. This tool and mouthpiece, the legions of communists and radicals that have flooded into the executive branch operations of the federal gubmint, the handful of "true believers" within the congress (combined with a pack of self-interested and self-absorbed party members), and the state controlled media (some directly, and the vast majority that are easily manipulated by their own vanity and egos) are being unleashed in a non-stop assault on our Beloved Country.
None of this is new, none of this should be surprising. It is the stage of intensification that is intended to wear down the final vestiges of resistance. In my humble opinion, our only hope is that they both over-estimate the pace that they believe is sustainable (their individual and collective egos and arrogance which tend to feed very synthetically, will hopefully push this along), and severely under-estimate the rate at which resistance can be ramped (both in numbers and intensity). Absent these two errors of estimation, I am fearful that they will finally succeed.

Thinking about it further, I wouldn’t want anyone in the military who would cheapen the uniform that way. They may be proud to be gay, but they’re not proud of the military.
A dishonorable discharge is what they deserve.
Unfortunately, we need only go back to the protests on the national mall in ‘04, ‘05 ‘06, ‘07 ... . Black hooded sweat shirts, scarves over the bottom of the face rock, bottle and excrement throwers; followed by hammer and sickle flags, and more red banners then a Mao cultural revolution rally and, a foot and half of garbage left by the ecology minded little darlings - Now That’s Violence. And, the “We need to kill the children in order to save them outrage in Waco would have led to the resignation of ANOTHER Republican President due to the presses outrage if the situation would have been the same.(though it wouldn’t have)
