RE: Goldman -- From Rush's website:

An interesting early chapter in the Goldman-Emanuel relationship took place in the setting of Bill Clinton’s campaign for the White House in 1992. Clinton hired Emanuel as his chief fundraiser. At the same time, however, Emanuel was on the payroll of Goldman Sachs, receiving $3,000 per month from the firm to 'introduce us to people,' in the words of one Goldman partner at the time." This story appeared right after Emanuel was picked to be Obama's chief of staff, November 2008.

^sigh^ letter from Dr. Coburn

Dear Mrs. TA3,

Thank you for your note regarding my recent comments at a town hall event in Oklahoma City on March 31, 2010. I am glad you took a moment to write me and share your frustrations. As you might imagine, I have received many calls, faxes, and emails about my statements. I understand the clips taken from my town hall have upset many people, and I appreciate the opportunity to explain the context and intentions of my remarks.

My comments were not primarily about Fox News or the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. I was speaking with a small group of constituents and supporters about our shared concerns with the recently passed health care law. I spoke on a wide variety of topics focusing primarily on how we must vote in elected officials who will uphold our Constitution and the limits therein. During the course of our discussion, the crowd turned their ire toward the individuals who advocate certain policies we oppose rather than at the actual policies we must change. At that point, I took a moment to share my concerns with focusing too much on the personalities of the debate rather than the debate itself, and how I think we best win the debate to secure our Republic.

I absolutely believe the liberal agenda being advanced today in Washington threatens to erode our freedom and bankrupt our nation. However, I believe policy disagreements should be debated and discussed on the basis of facts and principled beliefs, not on the basis of the personalities of the individuals advancing the ideas. Every week I am in Washington, I challenge my colleagues to stand for liberty and against excessive government spending, but I do so without attacking them personally or holding animosity towards any of them as individuals.

I vehemently disagree with the radical agenda of Speaker Pelosi, and work each day to defeat it. I also firmly believe we are most effective when we work to expose the facts of the collectivist, socialist agenda and work to advance the virtues of constitutional, limited government. The facts, and the vision of the Founders, are on our side in this debate. We should continue this debate under these terms, in order to make the best case for freedom and to preserve our own integrity throughout the process. If we focus strictly on the individuals and personalities involved, we may win in the short term, but we will have done little to defeat an ideological agenda with which we disagree.

As you know, I also made several remarks concerning various news media sources, including CNN and Fox News. As a frequent viewer of Fox News myself, I absolutely believe FOX plays an essential role in balancing political perspectives in the media and providing a level of accountability both for elected officials and the rest of the media. However, much of what is said on Fox News, CNN, and other channels is opinion driven. The claim that the recently passed health care reform bill, which I opposed, would jail the uninsured was erroneously repeated by commentators on Fox News. Fox News has confirmed this fact. There certainly are plenty of real provisions in that bill that should cause us all to be concerned, and I am committed to its repeal, but it undermines all of our legitimate criticisms if we put up false claims that can be disproven.

Again, thank you for contacting me on this issue. I am wholeheartedly committed to fighting to preserve your freedom guaranteed by our Constitution and to end the explosive and unaffordable growth of the federal government. Best wishes, and please keep in touch.

Sincerely, A

Tom A. Coburn, M.D.

United States Senator

Goldman Sachs, or any other crisis driven by Obama is
out of the play book of

Reichstag Fire

Hitler and his supporters quickly capitalized on the fire as a means by which to speed their consolidation of power
