Who would vote for him?
Rubio has the conservative base and the independents locked up. The far-left kooks will just vote for the Dem.
Crist should withdraw from the race and challenge Nelson in 2012.

All he'll do is split the left . . . RUN, CHARLIE, RUN!
I still don't think he'll run, though . . .

The real question is WHO WOULD PAY.
Crist is a mercenary. He runs for office for money.
The Democrats see indpendent crist as a way to open the path for Meeks.
The NRSC does not like tea party people. Remember NY 23, Steele essentially stepped aside to allow the party candidate win over the voter elected candidate.

That’s what I am thinking — he will split the left as he sure is not going to get any conservative support. I would doubt if he runs as an Indy but as a very good friend told me when it comes to Crist, don’t count anything out. That was not said as a positive!

NRSC Cornyn has already told Crist the NRSC will support Rubio if he runs as an Indy and warned Crist that the NRSC will make defeating Crist a priority.

I don't know about that...I read where the polls say he would win as an Independent. A recent poll showed Crist is trailing Rubio badly in the GOP primary but could win a three-way race with him and likely Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek. Last year, polls showed Crist ahead by more than 40 percent. Today he is down 23 percent.

He made his choice, he is just looking to justify it or to see is there is a better offer.
keep in mind he married a well connected/monied family. (see McCain) If he does not run they he is little more than an amoeba in the ego department.

E-cubed, I believe Fox had a poll showing a three way race going Crist 32%, Rubio 31%, and the dim around 27%. The point was Crist would win. I think that is nonsense but that was the jist of the report.

I specifically heard Crist say in a debate with Rubio on Fox a couple weeks ago that he would not under any circumstances run as an Independent. Pray tell...does Crist lie?

Crist seems to be a very spiteful man. Since the republicans won’t vote for him he wants to make sure a democrat wins by running as an independant.

Shep said Crist is nearing a decision....

Crist has a very good chance of winning running as an independent. He is able to get the Independent voters, and can pull Dems away from Meek.
Also, it will be easier for Crist to go after Rubio for his RNC credit card abuse....which he was limited to doing while still GOP.....not sure if Crist will go after Rubio for his pro-Illegal Alien doings while Speaker of Florida House
This Crist running Indy talk has been going on for a month now.....so no surprise if Crist runs as an Indy, and wins. Meek is a Liberal....and Rubio is not the conservative people think he is.
