Would Romney Oppose Repealing the Individual Mandate? (Yes. Read here)
American Spectator ^ | 4/19/10

I asked Gov. Romney if I could ask him a question. After he told me that this was OK, I posed the following question to him:

“You have stated your intention to spearhead the effort to repeal the ‘worst aspects’ of Obamacare, does this include the repeal of the individual mandate and pre-existing exclusion?”

The Governor’s answer: “No.”

Gov. Romney went on to explain that he does not wish to repeal these aspects because of the deleterious effect it would have on those with pre-existing conditions in obtaining health insurance.

The issue is the individual mandate. Romney supports it.

Why would a candidate for the nomination to be President do such a foolish thing?

Because he is smart enough to know how screwed he is, after ObamaCare passed.

New names for Mitt Romney:

"Mitt the Split" (voting for him would split the vote allowing obama to win);

"Romney the RINO"

"obama II"

Romney is a write off...not a write in.

The only thing that would “disqualify” Romney, or anyone else, from the GOP nomination is less primary votes than at least one other person.

People with intelligence may disqualify him due to his not being capable of winning...since ObamaCare dooms him.

Romney is the left’s favorite GOP presidential candidate. They will do everything they can to promote him just as they did McCain.

There you go, and that will finish him as a candidate. To be frank, that is how the Republican party leadership feels about it. And the Republicans wonder why so many people are leaving the party?? Conservatives do not like Socialism light... They want the party of Ronald Regan back and not this hybrid sell out McCain type Republicans.

Keep in mind this is coming from a lot of the so called Republican leadership. They are already caving to Obama, and we have not even had an election campaign. Unfreaking believable!

The individual mandate is mandatory if you are going to cover pre-existing conditions. Otherwise, people will game the system by only paying for ‘insurance’ after they get sick.

What part does the Mormon church’s practice/edict/command to turn over income regularly to the Mormon church influences Mitt’s worldview?

I’m not aware of any other religion that has such financial compulsions, with audits and such.

Mitt seems very comfortable about the idea of forced, top down, elite to peons participation.

Considering that Mormons were totally absent ideological from the Civil War, and institutionally from Civil Rights, and that no Romney has ever worn any uniform or fought in any war, or ever served in any branch of the service, does anyone have any facts concerning the expansion of others liberties and similar notions existing in Mormon doctrines?

It is unconstitutional for the government to mandate that a person must by a proudct, in this case health insurance.

Worse than a rino. I hope that Mark Levin confirms this and beats him down. This guy cannot be our nominee. Even McLame does not support the mandates.

You don’t get elected in Massachusetts unless you are a big government liberal. It is not surprising that the scumbag Romney wants to use all the power of thuggish big government to FORCE consumers to buy insurance and private business owners to provide it to employees.
