The malls are full in NH though...wonder if that has anything to do with no sales tax?

Here in Virginia's Hampton Roads, the landscape is rife with half-empty strip malls. Nationwide, the unemployment rate hangs at 9.7%, yet the LEI is at an all-time high. Isn't it interesting that, four years ago, 5% unemployment was considered "unacceptable," and that the economy, according to the SRM, was seen as "in a recession." Now, we're in a period of "recovery." Unbelievable.

Well, every place we go to eat, the restaurants are full with waiting lines. Three weeks ago, we went to a very high end steak place and it was full. My wife says that all the Macys-type places have lines and there are people shopping.

Just reporting what I see. Homes are still on the market after two years---but people seem to have money to spend.

Yesterday, my wife and I counted 10 houses in two blocks which look like slum dwellings in a normally pretty neighborhood (CA). Great recovery so far./s

Well you can only shrink so much until eventually you are bound to have no where to go but up (well sideways is an option as well).
