We don’t need anyone that has any of the kind of negative experience one would get in congress.
The deal making, compromising nature of congress is our biggest problem, and many of the worst presidents of my lifetime were senators: LBJ, Nixon, and Obama. All three of those presidents advanced socialism as their main goal throughout their terms in office.
We need mostly business experience; specifically small business experience where bad decisions are paid for by the decision maker, not by patrons or stock holders. Its called responsibility.
You have a strange idea of what is logical; everything about legislating is autocratic in nature. Just look at how both parties support exempting congress from its own product. Who else can set their own salary without consequence? These are the people that we need to keep away from the White House.

I was not aware that Ronald Reagan ever ran a samll business. And while it is good experience, why exactly that would make a great president and four to six years as a senator would not is to me a little puzzling. Are you saying all past and present Republican senators would make awful presidents? And to contend that Nixon's main goal was socialism is so absurd as to require no answer.
