LOS ANGELES Democrats facing a tough election year dared Republicans on Saturday to challenge them on issues from Wall Street regulations to health care reform, testing what they hope will be a winning message with most voters in the fall.
Democrats at the state party's annual convention had a brash message at a time when polls show President Barack Obama's popularity slipping and party candidates in tight races across the country: Bring it on.
"Democrats are for protecting the peoples' interest; Republicans are protecting the special interests. Democrats are protecting consumers and small businesses on Main Street; Republicans are protecting big banks on Wall Street," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told more than 1,000 cheering delegates inside the Los Angeles Convention Center.
"That is our fight," Pelosi said.
With her re-election in doubt, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., urged Democrats to unite behind her candidacy with the excitement witnessed at tea party rallies around the nation.
"We passed health care reform and we should be proud of it, proud of it," Boxer told supporters waving yellow "Boxer 2010" signs. "I need you to be excited, as excited as the tea party people are. Will you help me?"

If the Republicans fall for this spin, they deserve to lose.
Is this satire???
Unemployed are at 12.7% in Calif. If they elect Rats they are hopeless.
Anybody who votes for a rat in the mid terms need to have their head examined
It’s the voters who will be falling for the spin, not Republicans. As for protecting the little people as opposed to Wall Street etc., the Republicans can just point to O’s record of bank bailouts if they have the nerve. There have not been such clearly defined issues in an election in decades. The Republicans should mop the floor with these guys. As for the “bring it on” attitude of Dems, the Republican response should be “Oh hell yea!”
Hey babs You screwed all of us. I'm sure you are very proud of that. Take your government health care and stick it.
Directly to retirement or jail
In the Peoples Republic of Kalyfornya, I'm not sure that winning is possible. The moonbats have created the Utopian paradise there that they want to force on the rest of us, and it's failing miserably. It's better to let DemonRATs ride it into oblivion. All they have to do is keep raising taxes, imposing more regulations on business, heck, just mandate nirvana and everything will be all right.
Yeah, demscum say “bring it on” as they hide any way they can from TEA Partiers.
Laughable. Utterly laughable.
,.
It’s about liberty.
Democrats are protecting consumers and small businesses on Main Street; Republicans are protecting big banks on Wall Street," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told more than 1,000 cheering delegates inside the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Like giving 250 billion of our dollars to AIG and Goldman Sachs? (they're not big banks on Wall St?)
Like denying consumers the freedom to pursue their own competitive healthcare?
Like demanding that small businesses provide healthcare which could rather be acquired by the individual?
Like giving our tax money to services for illegal aliens?
Like bailing out big businesses with our money which should otherwise be bankrupted from their own myopia and greed?
Like rewarding those who know exactly what copulation brings with the funds for supporting their own irresponsibility?
Like giving themselves taxpayer funded pay raises during the most demanding economic circumstances of those consumers?
Like confiscating the dignity of the free individual to pursue his own decisions?
Like fundamentally restructuring our youth into government dependents?
Like .....?
A good sign to carry at one of her rallies is “More Taxes Now! - Boxer 2010”.
They don’t need momentum: it’s California.
The worst of the garbage (like Pelosi) will coast to easy re-elections.
Time to clean house!!!
Giant douche’s and Turd sandwiches. The party of the poseurs are going to get crushed in Nov.
You don't understand. This is all designed to make Republicans mushy, to get them to go along with what the Dems are doing, so conservatives can get discouraged.
Oh please! Obama is on his knees for special interests as are all democratic politicians.
