I remember the two guys who were blogging the race, how much trouble they had trying to get on the reservation to monitor the election and how a Daschle friendly judge looked like he was going to put his fingers on the scale of justice until he realized they were live blogging in his courtroom and the jig was up.
I rad an account of Abourezk’s first run and he worked those reservations ans greased the leaders’ palms and I have to think he taught his aide Daschle just how to do it.
