Squelching the bad news on ObamaCare
NY Post ^ | April 17, 2010 | Michelle Malkin

The House Democrats' Torquemada got cold feet. Self-styled "chief in quisitor" Henry Waxman announced this week that he's canceling a planned show trial of corporate executives who called public attention to the financial hit they're taking as a result of President Obama's health-care mandate. Business owners can breathe a small sigh of relief. But the witch hunt isn't over.

You'll recall that Waxman fired off nasty-grams to the heads of Deere, Caterpillar, Verizon and AT&T last month, demanding their presence at a congressional auto de fé. Their sin? Publicly reporting the costs and consequences of federal health-care taxes on their firms' bottom lines.

A vindictive Waxman sought internal documents and e-mails from the CEOs about the profit charges. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke took to the White House blog and TV airwaves to condemn the "premature" and "irresponsible" disclosures.

So...these companies were in the process of complying with another of the myriad stupid laws enacted by this “Big Brother” government (Dems and Pubbies), and DaNoze gets his panties in a wad and wants to score some points with the media lackeys.
I guess one of his aides finally got him to understand that nothing good can come from a group of BigBiz Execs sitting in front of the Congressional Camera and saying, “But, Mr. Waxman, we are complying with the laws you have enacted. So...why are we here?”

Could have been some funny stuff. Sorry we won’t get to see it.

It’s still time to take back the country.

This was entirely predictable ... Waxman came to the realization he was going to have his butt handed to him big time by the CEO’s. There was no way the Obama administration was going to come out of this without taking a hit.

Remember when when Oliver North appeared before a Congressional hearing back in the Reagan years? He took the smarmy congress critters to the woodshed, kicking their butt every way but loose. Waxman had second thoughts when he came to the conclusion the CEO’s of some of America's largest corporations were gearing up for another Oliver North type congressional ass kicking.

I think this Waxman episode will end up being one of the five top “flops” of the year. Only after his handlers sat down and explained how the companies were going to come in with facts and actual laws that Waxman passed...did the guy realize that the mess is truly a mess...and he’d just intensify it.

In a way, with the worst problem being employment right now...their medical deal ends up costing more jobs this summer as big companies figure how to come out of this with minimal issues. With elections in November...this was timed at the worst possible moment.

Running Scared

On the bank, of the Potomac
Stood Running Scared
A bill shoving man
On the other side, of the issue
Stood his fellow, Americans
Taxed Enough Already, was their name
A bunch of racists, the media wailed
As they sought, to shape folk's minds
So their concerns, would not be heard

Running Scared, hated Taxed Enough Already
With a hate, big as the sky
Running Scared, hated Taxed Enough Already
He hoped that they, would all just die
