Wesley Jones voices his opinion at a tax-day rally by The Patriot Trust at Audubon Park on Thursday.
"As you look around today, there's fewer signs, fewer strangely dressed people ... that's the theme mainstream media would suggest we are," said Mark Skoda, 55, hoarse from giving interviews to national media earlier in the day.
"We are reasoned people who understand the challenges that this nation faces," he said.
A local conservative facilitation group called Patriot Trust coordinated the "Tax Day Monopoly Festival" at the East Memphis park.
One of the group's founders, Elizabeth Weimer, 56, dressed in a hat and a coat and holding a cane to match the theme: "It's not Monopoly money; it's our money!"
The Audubon Park gathering was one of many held around the country Thursday, including a Hernando rally organized by the conservative Tea Party of Mississippi that drew more than 100.
Another area group, the Mid-South Tea Party, held a protest in Cordova in front of a Walmart Supercenter on North Germantown Parkway. At its peak, about 120 people lined the sidewalk during evening rush hour, organizers said.

Our local tea party is tomorrow and I could not be more excited!! Jerome Corsi, Tom Tencrado, etc. I can not wait.
I suspect as usual they under reported the count, as they didn’t ‘see’ the African Americans at the Tea Parties. They want an entirely white face on it.
I agree, they always leave the true black American out of anything they are not promoting..and try to make them look stupid when they step forward..Just like the democrats still want all blacks in slavery, but don’t have the educated one running after them with their hands out for free goodies..
