LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 News) - Thursday, Governor Crist vetoed the controversial teacher merit pay bill, breaking with conservative ranks. Then the head of the Republican U.S. Senate Re-election Committee issued a warning to Crist telling him his career is over if he tries to run outside the GOP.

Dr. Foglesong said, "A person I know in the Charlie Crist campaign has told me Charlie Crist would veto the merit pay bill, and he did. Further, he said he would announce tomorrow, that's Friday, that he would run as an independent."

In other words, if he isnt the GOP nominee, he’ll split the vote and sabotage the general election.

12 Pictures of Charlie Crist Looking Gay

Wednesday February 11, 2009 2:05 AM

Yesterday, Barack Obama continued his stimulus sales pitch in Florida with the state’s Republican Governor, Charlie Crist. The quote that is making its rounds on the Internet is when Obama said, Every body needs to grab a hose and that is what Charlie Crist is doing here today.”

That’s hilarious because there have been Crist gay rumors for a while now. He was a bachelor for 30 years before hurrying up and getting married when he was being vetted for John McCain’s VP choice. And his wife runs a costume company. So you can make your own “beard” and “swing state” jokes as you see fit. Here are 12 pictures of Charlie Crist looking gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.

“Heyy Girls!”

“What? These old things?”

“Tell me about it, sister!”

“Oh. I see you brought your son.”

“Shoes.”

“That’s all? Not interested.”

“Three words, mister. Mile. High. Club.”

“Not here, Raul.”

“He’s usually so ticklish.”

“Hit the showers, you.”

“Hip hip hooray!”

“Ehhhh!”

Instead of “to Perot” we now have a new verb “to Crist.”

You see that career light in his eyes, it is getting dimmer by the day. He is free to do what he chooses but I think he will regret it, and so will we probably.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Gov. Charlie Crist has fallen far behind in Florida's Republican primary contest for the U.S. Senate, but he could capture a three-way race in November if he ran as an independent, according to a new poll released Thursday.

Mr. Crist must decide by April 30 whether to remain in the GOP primary, where former state House Speaker Marco Rubio, a rising star among party conservatives, is favored. The governor has refused to shut the door definitively on speculation he might bolt the party to seek the seat as an independent in November.

If the general election were held now, 32 percent of voters would favor Mr. Crist, compared with 30 percent for Mr. Rubio and 24 percent for the Democratic front-runner, Rep. Kendrick B. Meek, according to a survey of 1,250 registered voters taken April 8 through 13 by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

We’ll see what happens.

I hope that the REPUBLICAN PARTY understands that they CREATED THIS MONSTER by needlessly anointing him as their candidate from Florida early on.

Had they only stayed back and let the primary process play out, then maybe Crist would have gotten the message that this was not his year. Instead they gave him money and likely promised him the nomination...using their “connections”.

Spending their money to pick one Republican over another Republican in a Primary is not exactly a wise way for the party to spend its money - they might as well spend it on something that motivates and unites the party, like strippers, rather than on picking candidates in the Primaries.

Endgame: Jeb Bush slams Crist, Connie Mack resigns as campaign chairman
posted at 9:56 pm on April 15, 2010 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Rarely will we devote three posts in a day to a single state race but there’s a campaign imploding in real time here. First Jeb administers the kiss of death:

I am disappointed by the veto of Senate Bill 6. By taking this action, Governor Crist has jeopardized the ability of Florida to build on the progress of the last decade, which includes raising student achievement across the board, narrowing the achievement gap for poor and minority students, and improving graduation rates. Florida’s sustained improvement is the result of bold reforms that were challenging, controversial and sometimes even unpopular. Reform is hard work but without a commitment to change, Florida would not be 8th in the nation today.

And then Mack abandons ship:

Gov. Charlie Crist’s political mentor, former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack, resigned Thursday as Crist’s campaign chairman in his race for the U.S. Senate…

“As you know, I strongly disagree with your veto,” Mack wrote his fellow Republican. “Your veto I believe undermines our education system in Florida and the principles for which I have always stood.”

Mack went on to say that Crist’s decision to veto the bill was “unsupportable and wrong.”

“As you can understand, I can no longer serve as chairman for your campaign for the United States Senate,” Mack wrote.

I know today’s veto was a big deal but it surely wasn’t so big that Mack would cut ties to his own protege over it in an act of conscience. Either he’s using this as a pretext to head for the lifeboats because the Republican nomination is now officially unwinnable or Crist’s told him privately that he’s running as an independent and Mack refuses to go against the party. Either way, Crist’s days as a Republican Senate candidate are over. Say, John Cornyn — you and the NRSC endorsed Crist almost a year ago, didn’t you? How are you feeling this fine evening?

Cornyn says the governor will face an intense backlash from the Republican establishment if he runs as an independent.

“I would think that would be the end of his political career as a Republican,” Cornyn, chairman of the NRSC, told POLITICO. “So I doubt that will happen. My hope is that this is all resolved in the Republican primary by Florida voters.”

Cornyn said that Crist would be a “man without a party” if he decided to mount a three-way race against Rubio and Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek, who is pursuing his party’s nomination in the state.

“And I think he’s got other potential and aspirations, so I think from that standpoint, it would be a bad decision,” Cornyn said.

Exit question: I know Crist is momentarily leading a three-way race, but how does that play in the long run once voters watch him break his vow not to run as an indie? Even if there’s 30 percent willing to vote for him right now, is there a donor base among those people? Rubio’s fundraising is skyrocketing and will soar further once grassroots conservatives get motivated to punish a traitor to the party. How does he possibly sustain this lead, especially with Kendrick Meek starting to assert himself?

I saw that story a few days ago; it makes no sense.

It's essentially saying that Rubio can beat him in the Primary but can't beat him in the General election.

WTF?

The fact that nobody really knows shows again how the GOP RINO elite is still screwing America.

I’m not buying these numbers as legit on election day. Democrat voters will vote Democrat and Conservative voters will vote for Rubio. Not enough of those who were Crist voters will not lose an election by throwing away their votes when they know by voting for Crist they will ensure a Democrat wins.

Lets remember here that the liberal running only has 24% of the vote (76% of the voters DO NOT want this guy). That is abysmal by any stretch of the imagination.

We should note that it was us, the GRASSROOTS, that drove Crist out of the party.

THIS IS A VICTORY!!! - even if he is a sore loser.

Next target is McCain...
