Court rules for Tea Party candidate in Nevada Senate race [Scott Ashjian, Imposter]

A Nevada judge ruled Thursday that Scott Ashjian’s name will remain on November’s ballot as a Tea Party candidate for Senate.

The Independent American Party, which is running a candidate of its own in the Nevada Senate race, had argued that Ashjian was registered as a Republican and not Tea Party when he filed to qualify for the ballot on March 2.

But Ashjian’s legal team had argued that after first registering to vote as a Republican, he returned to register with the Tea Party.

In its ruling Thursday, the court said Ashjian complied with state law in his filing.

Ashjian is one of several third-party candidates whose presence on the ballot threatens to siphon off conservative votes from the eventual Republican nominee against Democratic Sen Harry Reid.

A host of Republicans are running in the June 8 primary, including former state GOP Chairwoman Sue Lowden and businessman Danny Tarkanian.

I think the Paultards are pushing this guy to attack Sue Lowden. They really have a lot of vile for her and did have a lot of people who weren’t registered Republicans register as such and try to weasel into the party there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was one of them. They actually care more about destroying her than they do beating Harry Reid.

I expect we’ll see card-carrying members of the Communist Party running as Tea Party Candidates.

They think we’re dumb.

No, I happen to think they’re Dems. Their big sponsor is a big slip-and-fall lawyer.

This would be easy to counter if Democrats do more of it. Tea Party leaders just announce anyone who runs under the Tea Party label on the ballot is a Democrat.

They probably thought this character was a good find because he is good looking and a slick talker. But he has more skeletons in his closet than a funhouse. He will regret running, that’s fer sure.

What’s the real story on this guy?

Everything I have read makes him look like a con artist who is trying to capitalize on the Tea Party movement.

I dont know that anyone has the real story but his candidacy is definitely fishy. He has zero political experience, a long list of failed businesses, an embarrassing life story, and only his smooth talk and handsome face going for him. The only thing that makes sense is that someone picked him to siphon off votes from the GOP candidate.

I am surprised someone with so much baggage would run in a race where he will receive so much scrutiny. However, he could still be a problem if it is a tight race, and Reid could pull it out because of this charlatan.
