Conservative superstar Sarah Palin opened the door yesterday to joining forces with Mitt Romney for a 2012 White House run - a hot ticket that has some Republicans licking their chops at the prospect of unseating President Obama.
Sounds pretty good, Palin declared at yesterdays Tea Party Express rally on the Common when asked about pairing up with the former Bay State governor - giving the idea a big thumbs-up as she left the stage after her headline speech.
Last night, as Palin stopped for cannoli at Mikes Pastry in the North End, she said she was serious about the idea.
I have a lot of respect for Mitt, she told the Herald.
Asked who would be on top of the ticket, Palin roared, Ha! I havent even thought that far ahead yet.
Indeed, Palin said she hasnt decided whether shell run in 2012 - with or without Romney.
Romney, a presumptive 2012 Republican presidential contender who recently embarked on a nationwide book tour, has not ruled out an alliance with Palin, the GOPs 2008 vice presidential candidate.
Mitt Romney respects Sarah Palin and he appreciates the contributions she makes to the party, said Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom. But his immediate focus is on helping Republicans win back the Congress in 2010.
Some veteran political observers were intrigued by the notion of the two telegenic former GOP governors on the same ticket.
They both have a lot they can offer a campaign, said Douglas Lorenz, a California-based GOP consultant. Romney has the experience as a governor and experience as a candidate for president, and when you combine that with Sarah Palins ability to get people motivated, that could definitely be a formidable ticket.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos called the matchup the best of both worlds.
They both come at it from totally different parts of the spectrum, said Mihos, who attended yesterdays Tea Party rally. One deals on a gut level with people and the other is highly successful on the business end of things.
Speaking before a rapt crowd estimated at 5,000, Palin squarely targeted Democrats, pounding away at Obamas $787 billion stimulus package. She also lobbied for domestic oil drilling.
I want to tell em, Nah, well keep clinging to our Constitution and our guns and religion - and you can keep the change, Palin said, later adding, Yeah, lets drill, baby, drill; not stall, baby, stall - you betcha.
Meanwhile, Palin said last night she had no hard feelings about U.S. Sen. Scott Browns decision to skip the rally. He was in Washington doing his job, she said.
sound like a dream ticket; Gov. Palin would be at the top of the ticket
Um...
No.
Romney will just continue on Obamacare and just about every other piece of the Leftist agenda.
mitt romney, no thank you
Stay connected, stay informed, and stay inspired. The fall midterm elections is Priority First
Palin/Romney sounds so much better than Romney/Palin.
We need Palin to be the to[ dog in this fight.
Romney can’t pull enough support.
Sorry to announce but the State of Texas will be sitting that one out. Good luck Mitt & Sarah...
First McQueeg, now Romney. See ya, you bet ya!
Bite your tongue. No way.
How about a ‘DemonRAT’ dream ticket!
Mitt Romney/Ron Paul
It would honestly be a relief because I wouldn’t ever have to hear about them again after ‘Zero’ kicks their A$$E$!
Nyet!
Palin seems unflappable, she handled this well.
Romney often comes off as a little flat footed and less instinctually gracious when he is asked hypotheticals and questions about other individuals.
Ok now all you've done is make my head hurt and caue me to throw up a little...
I think that if the GOP ran a toilet and a seat you could get better results.
If Romney/Palin is the ticket then I am going to have to go with principle and not vote R next time around.
NO...a thousand times NO. Romney is a RINO.
If they ran Romney they would be running a toilet...
How many times this story have to get posted, and how many times do I have to point out that this is a made-up media story?
Check out the video on the Herald’s web page, about 2:15 in: the implication when she was asked was that she would be the top of the ticket. How ingracious can anyone expect her to be, being asked about a possible favorite-son veep while in his home state?
Palin won't be endorsing ANYone until, at the earliest, after Nov - she hasn't even committed to run herself.
This story, planted by - it would seem - either a lib or a slick willy supported keeps getting publicity on FB by being posted over and over - shouldn't have posted ONCE.
Got the clip? If so, post it. If not - please stop posting this story.
