Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) is leaving the Senate, but he's not going quietly.
Bunning on Wednesday announced that he will support Rand Paul in the GOP primary to take his seat. The move will be seen as a direct affront to the state's other senator, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and the candidate he is more closely tied to, Secretary of State Trey Grayson.
Kentucky needs a conservative who will say no to bailouts, stop the government takeover of our economy, end wasteful spending, and bring down our national debt," Bunning said. "And Kentuckys families need a conservative who believes in traditional values and the rights of the unborn. In 2010, there is only one such conservative running for the United States Senate -- Dr. Rand Paul."

The democrats look like they’re going to jettison their conservative democrats, Dan Mongiardo, for liberal Jack Conway because Mongiardo dared not support Obama’s health care bill. Mongirado’s lead in the democrat primary went from 18 points to 3 points.
I don’t know who “liberal Democrat” Grayson is, I know only mainstream Conservative Republican Trey Grayson, and he has my endorsement over Truther and Kokesh-supported Junior Paul, a clear and present threat to our national security. I don’t endorse people who hang out and make common cause with traitors.
A-men to that. For months now, we've had a couple of trolls going to every thread on FR, writing fiction about how Charles Merwin Grayson III was Bunning's choice or his "protege." This sets the record straight on that lie.
Bullcrap. Sen. Bunning’s endorsement is nothing but sour grapes because he’s still steaming pissed at being pressured into retiring before he wanted to go. A sad and classless way to end his career by endorsing a Truther-supported extremist and tool of anti-American traitors like Adam Kokesh.
This caught me off guard. Clearly, Bunning resents being pressured into retirement, even though he would have lost had he run.
Post #25. I’m not endorsing a guy who is best buds with traitors like Adam Kokesh. It’s too bad it doesn’t both your conscience, but I’m not selling out our country or our troops for a candidate like that.
Watch us "wag the dog" while we sell America down the river just ain't cuttin it anymore?
Not to me either.
Amen!
Ironic words that describe you perfectly. And you have repeated the same tired garbage over and over on several threads. Apparently, you are going with the Goebbels strategy of "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
You essentially have three choices after Dr. Paul's eventual victory next month: swallow your stubborn pride and support the Republican, show your true colors by continuing to cry and support the Democrat, or shut up and find neo-con candidates in your own state to support.
Who has the better chance of winning the general election for the rats?
Thank you. Good to see you too, my fellow Kentuckian. God bless.
You know fieldmarshaldj, every Rand Paul thread is like chocolate to me.
And you, you are the like the "bitter" in every thread of my favorite chocolate:
Frankly, I'm not sure which one has the better chance. Mongiardo's positions are more in tune with Kentucky, but Conway is a much, much better fundraiser.
This is more good news of powerful momentum in Rand Paul’s favor. He is going to make a great US Senator!
Do you really, sincerely think that Bunning could have lost in Kentucky this fall? Assuming of course that the RINO establishment, faced with his overwhelming endorsement in the Republican primary, would not have dared to maintain its boycott of financial and moral support for him
I only speak the truth, you don’t like it, but then, I’m not hear to kiss the ass of Paulbot loons. If Junior manages to buy the nomination, relying on the deceiving and defrauding of the good primary Republican voters of Kentucky, do not expect me to rubber-stamp that appalling candidacy. Just as I will not aid and abet the hijacking of the party by liberals, I will similarly not do so by Paleo-Libertarians, who are thoroughly and completely indistinguishable on foreign policy and defense matters as the extreme left of the Democrat party.
Post #38 goes for you, too.
Agreed. I am not encouraged by Paul’s associations and I fear that he will have a Dr. Strangelove/Debra Medina moment.
Furthermore, the Democrat will not let up on the Drs. Paul. There’s way too much dirt for Rand Paul to explain away.
We may have lost this seat. If Rand is anything like his father, we already have.
