Anger as Arizona lawmakers pass immigration bill

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Immigrant rights groups Wednesday slammed Arizona lawmakers after they approved a bill which will allow police officers to determine whether suspects are in the United States legally.

Arizona's House of Representatives passed the bill by a margin of 35 votes to 21 during a session on Tuesday, the legislature's website showed, mirroring a similar measure passed by the border state's Senate earlier this year.

The bill will now proceed to Arizona's Republican Governor Jan Brewer to be signed into law.

The bill makes it a misdemeanor offense for an individual to lack proper immigration paperwork and also allows police officers to determine someone's immigration status if they believe he or she could be an illegal immigrant.

Currently police can only ask about an individual's immigration status if they are suspected of involvement in another crime.

However critics say the bill will transform Arizona into a "police state" and even sections of law enforcement have voiced fears it could harm relations between police and the immigrant community.

Chris Newman, Legal Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, which campaigns on behalf of day laborers in the United States, called on Governor Brewer to veto the bill, which he described as "odious" and "unwise."

These racist illegal alien invader rights groups need to realize that many of us will not go down silently and are ready willing and able to defend ourselves and this nation from this garbage.

The correct headline should be:

“Joy as Arizona lawmakers pass immigration bill”

Yeah, your headline would capture the real public mood. A headline that would reflect the mainstream media's actual thoughts on this would be:

"Panic as Arizona lawmakers threaten to deprive the Democratic Party of hundreds of thousands of illegal votes"

However critics say the bill will transform Arizona into a "police state"

But it was ok for Nappy to transform us into the current police state, with cameras in every small town, monitoring 24-7 by a foreign company, DPS every ten feet on major highways during holidays, not to mention all the other "checkpoints" to hassle and harass Americans while letting illegal aliens fly by.

“I do not understand the mentality of these bleeding heart liberals who think the American taxpayer should be funding those that are not here legally. Screw ‘em!”

You don’t understand? Consider:

They believe they are creating more Democrat voters.

They believe they are weakening the conservative culture.

They believe that American taxpayers are evil bloodsuckers who got their money by exploiting poor third world natives, so this is only a partial payback for their crimes.

Does it make sense now?

Does this mean that as an American citizen, I have to carry my papers if I travel to Arizona?

No more than you need to show them when passing thru a Border Patrol checkpoint above the border.

Anger as Arizona lawmakers pass immigration bill

Translation: Those here illegally are angry that they are going to be targeted by law enforcement. Big shock!

It was a long time ago that we went over the border to Mexico, at San Ysidro (when it was semi safe), and I can tell you that when you passed their toll road booths, they had the military on the border, and they were armed, with rifles.

It really bothers me when I we see how they trash our beautiful Arizona desert when they enter our country.
Why are we so stupid to allow this to keep on happening.
Why don’t we have our border patrol on our borders, armed to the teeth too.
