I think that the vast majority of post-1965 immigrants have come to the US not for freedom or opportunity, but to have the gov't steal wealth from productive Americans and give it to them. I think most of those immigrants, and most of their offspring, remain loyal to, and consider themselves citizens of their countries (and cultures) of origin.IMHO, I think that you're primarily identifying reasons to restrict current immigration (which I support doing) and/or militarizing the border against illegal immigration (which both I, and Rand Paul, support doing).
That's not the same as saying that immigration is per se an economic or social evil, under conditions of economic freedom and the absence of a welfare state.
I don't know that we're really in disagreement, so much as arguing from different perspectives. I think that you're arguing "what is", whereas I'm arguing "what ought to be".
Put it this way -- whatever our thoughts about the details of immigration policy (for example, my suggestion to restrict immigration to English-speaking persons), I suspect we would both agree with the following statement:
It's just obvious, that you can't have free immigration and a welfare state. -- Milton Friedman
Fair enough?

- For Ron Paul supporters, ignorance is bliss | 12/16/2009 | Paul ranks alongside ultra-liberal Dennis Kucinich as having the weakest foreign policy stances in the U.S. House. Tuesday, Paul and Kucinich were two of only 12 House members that voted against imposing new sanctions on Iran. The resolution that would penalize foreign companies from selling oil to Iran passed 412-12. "This will unify the Iranian people against us," Paul incorrectly predicts.
