LOS ANGELES (AP) A nurse who left her vehicle at a gas station to help a nearby accident victim was the victim of a carjacking and dragged about 20 yards after she tried to grab the keys, Los Angeles police said Monday.
The nurse, who police didn't identify, was filling up her car at the gas station near the city's Pico-Union neighborhood early Sunday when she saw another car hit a traffic signal pole, which then fell on a pedestrian, Officer Carlos Ortega said.
The good Samaritan nurse left the keys in her car and ran across the street to help, police said. But Deserie Guzman allegedly hopped in the nurse's car and started the engine.
When the nurse ran back, Guzman allegedly hit the gas, police said. The nurse was dragged until she fell, hit her head on the pavement and blacked out.

Don’t leave home without it ... You never know what lurks just around the corner.
From Wikipedia:
Pico Union is one of the poorest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Once predominantly white and (prior to World War II) heavily Jewish, it is now primarily populated by first-generation Hispanic immigrants, particularly Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans, and Hondurans. Nearly 50% of the population is believed to be living in the United States illegally, but as Los Angeles is designated a sanctuary city, many of the undocumented are somewhat protected.

And now, the accident victims will probably sue the nurse for abandoning their care so she could rush off after her car.
“She just up and left us lying there. She just run off cause she didn’t care.”
You never know when the police stations will be closed...

We don’t live in the America anymore, as the America we used to know..
I live in CA, where there is no concealed carry. The only way you can get a CCW is if you are a battered woman with a court order or retired law enforcement. Supposedly open carry is allowed. (I need to research this.) For all intents and purposes, it is open season here on law-abiding citizens.
If a state told you that you could not punch back if you were punched in the face by a guy on the street, would you still live there?
Make no mistake about it.....when states do not allow force to be met with equal force, this is PRECISELY what they are doing.
...when can we get military action against these treasonous cities?
From what I understand, open carry is permitted in certain jurisdictions provided the weapon is unloaded.
I just went to Chip Foose’s web site and suggested she get some new wheels - Foose style.
For those that don’t know Chip Foose is a famous car stylist that has a show called “Overhauling’ where they fake nab a car and customize it. The ‘victim’ is typically a person with an interesting story and the car has meaning (Dad’s car, etc.). Most of the time, they want to restore it but can’t for whatever reason.
never leave your keys inthe ignition when you are not in the car. especially at the gas pumps - do you want to give the thief a full tank of gas AND the car?
California open carry is only legal with an unloaded gun. Not much use there. First offense for illegal concealment is a misdemeanor. Second is a felony.
Yes, never leave the keys in your car at the pump. In fact take your keys, put them in your pocket, and take your purse, if female, and lock the car. If someone tries to grab your purse, let them have it because you have the keys. I also separate my money and credit cards from my wallet. Never put all your valuables in one place. If approached with the demand for your keys, throw them as far as possible and run.
