Are your kids in HS?
My cousins are in High School, and the children of friends are in high school as well. They either attend multiethnic high schools in the city or more homogeneous schools in suburbia. The racial fights and violent racial politics that were characteristic of the 1960s-1980s in this area have dissipated for a variety of reasons (upward mobility amongst many immigrants, the decline of “cultural traditionalist” whites regionwide, etc.). There is still self-segregation, however, as there has been ever since the first “other” arrived here.
