Do you all have a reading comprehension problem? If the levees had held, there would not have been any flooding, and no need to evacuate.

I read just fine.

It is your refusal to understand my reasoning, that if folks live in a location BELOW sea level, near a coastline and in an area prone to hurricanes, they have no one but themselves to blame for being flooded. As to levees, all around this country they’re notorious for failing, no matter the location, no matter who built them.

I live near a city along the Columbia River, in southwest Washinton state, that is surrounded by levees. (I live 800 feet up the side of a mountain nearby). No way will I live along the river shore or in areas with levees (this is how we spell it up here). We would be asking for trouble.

No one is to blame for the flood or Hurricane Katrina - that is God’s work. Levees are man’s work, and never should be expected to defy such a force of nature.

(I think New Orleans and Corpus Christi both ought to move to less hazardous locations.)

God gave humans brains for a reason. Too bad we don’t use that gift more often.

Where in the Constitution is the Federal Government authorized to build levees to keep water out of a below-sea-level city on the coast in hurricane country?
