Noice that the black "correction" (aka
FUDGE FACTOR line has its own (unlabeled) scale on the right --
but it has been shifted downward two degrees!!!.
The ONLY justification for such trickery is to "bury" the fudge factor in the data -- instead of putting it above the datas where it belongs -- so that it is obvious that it "pulls up" the actual numbers when added in.
In the military, we called that sort of crap "Smoke and Mirrors"

Hmmmm -- I notice that the original plot with which I worked to do my plot only had a
single degree downward shift of the right axis origin.
Would the real fudged data please stand up! '-)

While I was working on that plot,
this young lady looked over my shoulder and said,
"Hey! Those two scales are the same amplitude, Why is the right one shifted downward? That's bogus!"
She's in the fifth (5th) grade. She and her project scored 99 of a possible 100 points -- the top score -- over several hundred sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. (Apparently, her judges were real scientists...)
