The perfect ending to a day that saw support for repealing O-Care reach a new high in Rasmussen (58 percent) and support for The One reach a new weekly low in Gallup (47 percent). Turns out that fantastically long, mind-bogglingly complex bills which no one has actually read may create unintended consequences. Remember how they forgot to require insurers to cover kids with preexisting conditions? Oh, and they forgot initially to let young adults be covered by their parents insurance until Reid fixed it in reconciliation. Now this. Who knew that when Pelosi said theyd have to pass the bill so that people could find out whats in it, people meant Congress?
Id call it comedy gold if not for the obvious point raised by the Times: If they did not know exactly what they were doing to themselves, did lawmakers who wrote and passed the bill fully grasp the details of how it would influence the lives of other Americans?
The law apparently bars members of Congress from the federal employees health program, on the assumption that lawmakers should join many of their constituents in getting coverage through new state-based markets known as insurance exchanges.
But the research service found that this provision was written in an imprecise, confusing way, so it is not clear when it takes effect.
The new exchanges do not have to be in operation until 2014. But because of a possible drafting error, the report says, Congress did not specify an effective date for the section excluding lawmakers from the existing program.

Now ain’t this just rich?
I am sure they’ll come up with a fine program for them and their families.
That will teach them to read the bill next time.
I guess Pelosi was right. Really DID have to get the bill passed to find out what was in it.
Sadly, it won’t. They will be bailed out.
Hey Congress ... Meet your NEW healthcare plan !!!
Poetic justice. Now, if we could just force them onto the same social security train that we’re on, I’ll bet that program would be made solvent within a year.
I commented on this when it was posted earlier by another FReeper. But, I’ll say it again:
It’s a shame the GOP does not have the ‘nads to push this issue and force the Dems to “show their hand” on them having the same Health Care the rest of the nation has.
C’mon, Pubbies; call them out on this. Force a floor debate.
OK, I'm going to ask a naive question here, but do we know, or will we ever know,
exactly WHO did the "drafting" of the bill, or the various parts thereof?
If the Dems are so proud of this, why aren't the "authors"
stepping forward to take credit for their handiwork.
I guess I need a /sarcasm tag now, somewhere.
That's as likely as IRS agents and IRS employees sponsoring tea party events.
Members of Congress DO, CURRENTLY pay into Social Security, and they have for a very long time now.
It is a complete urban legend that they “don’t” pay into that system.
Not a problem, The EPA will make law giving the Congress their own Cadillac Plans right back.
Ping to comedy gold...ROTFLOL!!

“Can we jail them yet for not having insurance?”
LOL!!
Hey, they really are Marxists!
This is kind of funny. Funny, as we’re all going to hell in a trillion dollar hand basket kind of funny.
there are probably a lot more bombshells in this thing.
the senate bill was a big secret because the dems didn’t want the republicans to know what to attack. and no one really seemed to care what was in it at the time (which I thought was odd), because, I assumed, they knew it would have to be merged with the house bill in conference. whatever was wrong with it could be handled there.
but then scott brown happened, and passing the senate bill straight up was their only hope.
serves ‘em right.
does this mean nancy pelosi will have to pay for her own botox injections?
