Mitt Romney Wins GOP Presidential Straw Poll
CBS News ^ | 4/10/2010

NEW ORLEANS -- Mitt Romney won the straw poll at the Southern Republican Leadership conference here Saturday in a victory that will be taken as a sign of the former Massachusetts governor's strength as a 2012 presidential candidate.

That's because the 2008 GOP presidential hopeful elected to skip the conference to continue his book tour.

Romney triumphed by a single vote over Ron Paul, who took second place 439 votes to 438. Both men won 24 percent of the vote. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich essentially tied for third with 18 percent of the vote each.

Sarah Palin... will never be President... she is not even getting that good of ratings on her tv news show

Mitt doesn't even have a TV show, because he's a boring old metrosexual gun-grabbing socialist pro-abort RINO trust-fund brat who nobody cares about.

If you want to elect somebody like that, why not push Scott Brown? At least he has charisma in spades, and could probably win. Mittens reminds me of the dirty old used-car-salesman at the and of the bar who gets his ass kicked by some young hottie when he grabs her ass.

Adolph Eichmann will be voted mayor of Tel Aviv before Mittens becomes POTUS, and you can take that to the bank and cash it.

A man that wears those shoes with a suit should never lead anything.

That is something I have learned in many years of business. Serious men wear serious dress shoes with a suit.

Yeah, ansell2, because I live in California and I see it everyday and I know it's more complicated than "keeping them on."

Illegal immigration is not the simple exploitation of the poor by patritian, paternal overseers. These people run businesses, own homes, have huge extended families in this country and you're not necessarily going to know what their status is. You could hire a company owned by a Mexican with US citizenship and get a crew made-up entirely of illegals. They don't wear neon signs.

The reason Paul and Romney can do so well in these straw polls is because of their organization and or money.

It has nothing to do with how folks like us outside the political hustler rooms feel.

Romney pays his supporters and networks through his church.

Paul has his left wing anti-war fanatics who will show up anywhere for him.

I wanted to mention the lack of fiscal conservativism hown by the two top vote getters and now you have!!!!

I suspect Romney uses his own money, but Ronald Paul uses campaign doantions!

Ronald Paul took a real screwing...LOL.

Romney is like a raw steak left out in the open. At first it looks great, but the longer it's out the worse it looks and the more it stinks.

Romneycare plus Mitt's flip-flops on virtually every issue imaginable will do Mitt in..

I voted for Mitt in the 2008 Michigan Primary (because he wasn't John McCain). By the way, Mitt was for government bailouts of the “Detroit Three” during the primary campaign. Later he was opposed to them. Whatever he thinks the people want to hear; that's Mitt.

I am a California contractor from Texas that has been taking a stand against illegal workers since I refused to take over my first house wrecking job unless I could fire the illegals and replace them with Americans.

I was 17 and that was in the 1960s, during the years between now and then I have about every experience and incident with illegals that you can describe, in my personal life and in the workplace, including living in their neighborhoods and being surrounded by them.

I have dated illegals and I have gone through years of my life where I was a regular at wetback bars, both here and in California and in Texas.

I even spent years in restaurant work, I know illegals from my life in the border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California and also inland in places like Minnesota. I know a little about illegals and I started taking a stand more than 40 years ago, and I have lost countless thousands of dollars and suffered much hardship and difficult living from times when I would have had to hire illegals to get the work that I so badly needed, but which I refused to do.

Even now as a plumbing contractor whose number one labor need is ditch digging, I go through the loss that it cost me not to grab the illegals that I could so badly use, especially when I need to jump on a job instantly, or lose it.

Mitt Romney got busted for using that landscaping crew, in 2006 when it was revealed that he had used them for 10 years, and then he was busted a year later for STILL using them.

Not hiring foreigners that are here illegally is not exactly rocket science, I manage to not hire them.

And Tax-Hike-Mike RINO-bee is easily as a pathetic RINO loser as Mitt.

Can you even imagine if Sarah Palin talked about frying squirrel meat in a popcorn-popper? The media would have crucified her over it, but “I’ll-pardon-you-if-you-kill-whitey” Schmuckabee got a pass, because they had so much ammo to use against him in the general election.

I’m not sure which of these RINO frauds I despise worse: Schmuckabee (last see getting beaten with a bowling pin by Daniel Plainview) or Mr. Magic Hair (last seen riding in the passenger seat of Barbie’s pink Corvette). Mitt should run as a Dem, and “Elmer Gantry” Schmuckabee should be be snookering the faithful into buying snake-oil in a revival tent somewhere in Arkansas.

Romney and Shmuckabee are the past (and they can take my global-warming-koolaid-drinking-pseudogovernor T-Paw with them). Palin, Ryan, Bachmann, DeMint, and Pence are the future, and it’s time for the past to go bury itself in the dung-heap that awaits it.

The RNC is seriously looking at Salt Lake City as the site for Convention in 2012. If Romney is the nominee, the child sex abuse scandals involving Mormons will be the #1 issue in 2012. The media will make it acceptable to bash Mormons. To protect Mormons, compassionate Christians should not nominate Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination.

The Mormon Church forbid blacks to be Elders as recently as 1975. Also Mormon docrtrine used to call being black a cruse from God.

“Mitt Romney did not oversee a Financial mess in Massachusetts.. “

Listen you shill,

Romney was responsible for Romneycare, the precursor to Obama care. That ALONE is enough to disqualify him from ever getting a conservative vote.

It was June 1978.

“It was during this prayer that the revelation came. The Spirit of the Lord rested upon us all; we felt something akin to what happened on the day of Pentecost and at the Kirtland Temple. From the midst of eternity, the voice of God, conveyed by the power of the Spirit, spoke to his prophet. The message was that the time had now come to offer the fullness of the everlasting gospel, including celestial marriage, and the priesthood, and the blessings of the temple, to all men, without reference to race or color, solely on the basis of personal worthiness. And we all heard the same voice, received the same message, and became personal witnesses that the word received was the mind and will and voice of the Lord.” Immediately after the receipt of this new revelation, an official announcement of the revelation was prepared, and sent out to all of the various leaders of the Church.

LOL. I like your spirit and your writing style. Not being familiar with your screen name, I see that you’re new here, so WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC and I’m happy to see that you like Sarah too.

Huckaboob is another one who’s playing coy. Inviting democrats and movie stars to his FNC Saturday night show, and putting himself on the “hot seat” for questions by pre-selected libtards so he can shine. He also wrote a book or two, so we can’t cross him out for another run at the nomination. The man is smug and he thinks he has all the easy answers, plus a witty little folksy manner with the down home folks. He literally makes me sick. At least we already know that he and Romney hate each other, so if they’re both in the race, I’ll pray they do each other in.
