Romney Wins Straw Poll by Single Vote Helped by Evangelicals for Mit
Posted on 04/10/2010 5:59:09 PM PDT by GeorgeSaden
Mitt Romney, the once and likely future presidential candidate, didnt show up to address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, but that didnt stop him from walking away with the big prize from the gathering.
The former Massachusetts governor bested the competition in a straw poll conducted here over the past two days. Romney received 24 percent of a total of 1,806 ballots cast when voters were asked to name the candidate they would support if the Republican primary for president were held today.
[snip]
A group whipping votes for Romney, Evangelicals for Mitt, spent the day handing out plastic pink piggy banks with a plea to elect a president who wont break the bank emblazoned on the side.
That same group of evangelical supporters helped push Romney to a second place showing in this same straw poll four years ago at the 2006 Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Memphis, Tenn.

Can anyone point me to a good reference of Romney’s past positions and their evolution into his positions now? And what they now are?

I think they are mislabeling themselves in a deceitful sort of way. I have never liked the label evangelicals because it can encompass so many religious groups, but not necessarily born again Christians.

Actually, they should be called ‘RHINOS FOR ROMNEY’.
Like Mr. McCain, given enough money from Soros and a free pass through the nomination process by the agenda driven media, Mr. Romney can be nominated. Then Soros and the toadies of the press will pull their support, and Mr. Romney will lose.

They were no more Evangelicals than the guy running against Reid as a Tea Party candidate, in Nevada, is a real Tea Partier.

When is America going to learn that we have to vote for Statesmen rather than celebrities? We need leaders who are not afraid to fight instead of popular, sharp dressed nice guys.
As a tea party member we are looking at deeds and not words.
Every candidate is under a electron microscope.

Romney’s association with socialized medicine is enough to sink his ship with most of the public. IF republican challengers are savvy enough to publicize it.

Obviously Romney has a lot of people fooled to be so popular.
Of course he is the GOP golden boy.
We have to change that!

“I will sit the election out if Romney is the candidate. No longer will I hold my nose and vote!”
I’m with you!
Unless I vote for Obama. In a Romney vs Obama election, the Republic is finished only about 6 months sooner under Obama. I’d rather be done in by someone who admits they are my enemy, than by someone claiming to be on my side.
But if, as is likely, Obama is the anti-Christ, I’d go to H—l for that vote. So I’d probably sit it out, too.

I think swinging the term “evangelicals” around is a play of words to give a perception that All Christians support Romney.
Which is totally misleading. And intentionally misleading.
They want voters to see that headline and they won’t read the rest of the story.

There is no point in conservatives winning if Willard ends up in the White House. He will simply sellout conservatives whenever he thinks it is politically expedient to do so.
But, evangelicals and pro-lifers that stopped Romney in 2008. No one that is pro-life or opposed to same-sex marriage supports this phony. So, I question how evangelical those voting supporting Romney are.

Most of the Evangelicals I know are against Romney because they believe Mormanism is a cult. And, rabidly pro-abortion and didn't lift a finger to stop gay marriage in Massachusetts.

Mitt: Enjoy the “victory”. These straw polls will be the only victories for you this time around. Closet socialists won’t pass the sniff test this time. The fact you “won” under a false front group “Evangelicals” further emphasizes how you are buying votes. You beat Ron Paul by one vote: another vote buyer.
I have a suggestion for these straw polls: if group vote purchasing occurs, the candidate should be disqualified and removed from the list.

RomneyCARE-creator, vote-buying, Mitt Romney:
Now that Romneycare is national, ready to hurt
three hundred million, a little self examination is in order for you.
You may want to ask yourself if I had spent my time promoting
RomneyCare and Mitt Romney, could not I have garnered more support
of both Mr. Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney?
Romney praises Obama again
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."
