In a reasonable society, there would be enough mockery of gangbangers in the popular culture that it would discourage kids from adopting that lifestyle. But our hypersensitivities toward race prevent that healthy shaming from occurring, so we are left with thousands upon thousands of kids dressed like rodeo clowns shooting each other without a second thought. One of the worst effects of political correctness is that it prevents entire groups of people from having their behavior moderated by mockery.
Excellent cultural observation of America as seen from without (outside, from afar, circumspectly).
Well said!
Excellent observation. Political correctness kills. It really, really does.
“In a reasonable society, there would be enough mockery of gangbangers in the popular culture that it would discourage kids from adopting that lifestyle.”
Some nice middle class white kids want to dress like inner city gangsters. Want to listen to the same music, too.
Following bad fads seems to be the badge for young people to prove they are rebelling from their elders/parents.
In my area, the latest is tight black jeans, tatoos, piercings, black nail polish, for both so called sexes.
IOW this century’s interpretation of “punk.”
When entire groups of males are freed from the responsibilities of work, fatherhood and home ownership there is plenty of time for other activities.
Mockery and shame should be used! absolutely. Just as it should be used toward Congress when they pull the race card, regarding gangs or anything else! Their laws and policies are enabling these things.
Just once I would love to hear Republicans stand up and say to the progressives “Shame on you!” when they call Americans racists.
You get it! Sorry jerks would have been laughed out of existence before they ever laid hands on a nine...
