Liveblogging Sarah Palin’s Speech to GOP in New Orleans
Pajamas MEdia ^ | April 9 | Rick Moran

Excitement had been building in the room and it exploded when Sarah Palin walked onstage.

Stunning in a red waist length blouse and black shirt, the applause was tremendous and the cameras are still clicking.

“Just because we can does not mean that we should,” in reference to criticizing allies and “kowtowing” to foes.

Comes out for “repeal and replace.” And “Don’t retreat, reload,” which gets her first standing O.

She seems a little rushed, a little out of place. She’s speaking over applause lines. Maybe she has somewhere else to go....

I'm watching right now - she seems fine, high energy, and superbly confident to me!

Yesterday I heard on a local radio talk show, a great line

‘What we need is a John Wayne kind of leader.’ and the response was ‘yes, we do, none are in sight and the only one that does speak like John Wayne is a woman!!!!’

Yeah Sarah!

I loved it. Right on!

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

There’s nothing wrong with her speech. The problem is that many have become use to Obama’s “orchestrated” speeches.

She speaks...I listen, Obama speaks...I turn the channel.

I don’t know what speech he was watching. She was on fire.

Really an excellent speech. I put it on the level of her convention speech.

We were watching Gov. Palin on FoxNews and they switched from her speech to Obama paractically running out to talk about the Supreme Court Justice who is retiring.

Do you think he was trying to interfere with her getting her message out to today?
It will be interesting to watch and see if this happens again and if he interferes with her “facetime” often.
Just wondering.....how childish is he and those around him?...I think they did it on purpose, he had all day to do this. Didn’t he just get home from signing away our defenses against nuclear weapons? He should at least taken time to have a shower and regroup......

He got a shot of Palin’s hand with “who dat” written on the palm, as well as what appeared to be a cryptic French name.

Sarah may have been on fire, but she usually burns a bit brighter. She is a unique talent and her timing is usually perfect. The speech as written was superb, but this time her timing was a bit off, just as the blogger said. Compared, for example to the Sarah Palin we saw at the last GOP convention she was undoubtedly a bit awkward. She was forcing her lines and she seemed, at times, a bit flip for the gravity of her subject matter. No biggie. She can do better and no doubt she will as we move on through 2010 and on to 2012. We won't be doing her any favor by telling her that this was a great performance. The long knives are out for our Sarah and she will have to bring her best game if she is going to reach her potential over the next few years. She needs friends and supporters encouraging her to do so, not mindless cheerleaders willing to settle for less than her best.

I guess each person sees it differently because I thought her delivery was great and so did most of the Freepers on this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2489843/posts.

Don’t you recognize a Palin basher when you see one? This is a but monkey type of Basher, I.E.: “Sarah is normally great but she didn’t do well today” type of Sarah hater. They are afraid to come right out and criticize openly what they don’t like and try to give the impression of supporting Sarah(or what ever cause or person they want to trash)while trashing her. Lots of them on FR, especially the RINObots.

Well, it was either Sarah or Beck, yet again. I guess he just decided to shake it up a bit.......

“I thought her delivery was great and so did most of the Freepers on this thread.”

And Chris Matthews always gets a thrill when Obama speaks no matter how incoherent, idiotic and obnoxious he may be. Of course most partisans will hail their heroes (or heroines). That doesn't change the objective fact that Sarah can and must do better than today's speech. She won't be able to ride the backlash against Obama from here to the White House and beyond unless she can project a more confident, substantial image than she projected today.

To reach her potential she needs to win over a large number of people who think she's a bit of fluff. Today's performance wasn't up to that task. She seemed peculiarly disengaged from what she was saying, pausing when she needed to finish a thought and charging ahead when she needed to wait for applause. She was just a bit too gleeful about needling Obama, which came across as less than entirely serious. She really ought to figure out how to pronounce “nuclear.” Why paint a target on yourself?

I would be willing to bet that Governor Palin is pretty critical of her own performance. She won't be content when she views the tape and that's a good thing because it means she will be looking for ways to get stronger before the final battle is joined. I'm quite confident that she's up to the task, but today's speech isn't the best evidence of it.

"And President Obama, with all that vast nuclear expertise he acquired as a community organizer, a part-time senator, and a candidate for president, has accomplished nothing to date with Iran or North Korea."
