I’m not sure an Obama nominee will make much of a difference. Stevens was incredibly liberal.

Stevens is the most liberal member of the court. He's not going to let a Republican replace him.

I was under the impression that he had died a few years ago but the Dems were doing a Weekend at Bernie's pretending he was still alive until a Dem became president.

Seriously, I expected him to retire very soon after Obama's inaguration. I'm surprised he lasted more than a year.
