Even without Frank, this is still the longest of longshots for the Republican candidate. Yes, I know, Scott Brown (very narrowly) carried the CD in January, but it would take a miracle to capture that seat.
One thing that this does resolve is the problem of which CD the Democrat redistricters will eliminate. It would be very easy for them to add the heavily RAT New Bedford area to the current (Delahunt-held) MA-10 (thus making it more Democrat and improving their chances of winning the seat back from what is a likely GOP pick-up this November), and add the Brookline/Newton area to the population-losing Boston districts.
They bitched and screamed about switching the area code from 617 years back and won out on that.
if the GOP picks up one House seat, it forces the DEM’s hand on redistricting. That would be a victory in itself.
