One incident is related to the other. Think about it.
bart.
Indeed, it takes many states to make a United States. Illinois used to have a respectable Republican presence many decades ago.
“Can you see where your own numbness potentially leads?”
Yeppers - to my sanity and ability to live with people in a compassionate mode! Not wasting time on animals gives me more capacity to deal with the human tragedy I encounter daily!
And if the idea of nailing a cat to a pole unexpectedly pops into your head... could it be that Satan would have just found your Achilles’ heel?
See post #75 and get back to me.
And you certainly seem to have time to “waste” here. If you went away from it for good you would prove your point better, hint, hint, HINT!
Up way too late. Catch you later.
Bart.
While I'm not denying any connection to animal torture here ( I agree that it is a component of the "triad" of bedwetting, arson, and animal torture,) I think that the "recent rash of killings by school age children" has much more cause in the medication of these killer children with Ritilin, Prozac, and other class II narcotic drugs for TEACHER DIAGNOSED ADD and ADHD. Almost all of these children were in fact taking some type of antidepressant and/or mind altering drug, which even precludes the children from serving in the armed services later.
(Rant over now!)
I’m not God, nor do I pretend to even come close to a poor, dim, muted imitation there of!
I’m limited - so if you can do more good for you - how about showing me some of that compassion?
When skr nails you to a pole, come back and report on it.
One incident is related to the other. Think about it.
That was my thought. It is all the same thing.
The same kind of cruelty is at the root of many inhumane crimes (whether the crimes are illegal or not).
I meant post #81. My bad.
OK if you would be interested I will!
Yes, and there’s a good reason for that: nephesh literally means “living” or “breathing,” and according to Strong’s it’s used in the OT “very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental).” One commentary suggests that a more accurate translation would be “creature” or “being,” as in Numbers 9:6 it’s translated as “dead body” and refers metaphorically to death in Job 11:20 and Jeremiah 15:9. (For further references, see http://www.angelfire.com/nv/TheOliveBranch/append13.html.)
Ok evil is evil - I understand that - but I am still saying there has to be priority given to the evil that we are seeing in our lives today!
The cat nailed to a pole is just an acting out of what is in the media that kids see on a daily basis.
Who is asking you to “give it a high priority over the sufferings you see being inflicted upon human beings”? You do seem to show signs of being numb to it in the absolute.
Count the number of animal cruelty threads on FR then count the number of murder and abortion threads, and your silly straw man gets carried away as by a tornado in Kansas.
Just how the eff is “priority” getting “stolen,” please? Go into detail in your explanation, and be sure to note the proportion of article topics on FR.
Agreed. Cruelty to an animal or a human is really the same emotional hardness even if the results of the latter carry a heavier burden. This was a person being cruel to a cat and I would call that a human tragedy.
