Valley GOP backs Sarah Palin visit
Fresno Bee ^

Posted on 04/07/2010 10:41:00 AM PDT by OR Patriot

Four Republican lawmakers laid out a welcome mat for former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's June visit to California State University, Stanislaus. She's been in the crosshairs of Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, since the university's nonprofit foundation last week signed her to speak at the school's 50th anniversary celebration. State Sens. Jeff Denham of Atwater and Dave Cogdill of Modesto with Assemblymen Tom Berryhill of Modesto and Bill Berryhill of Ceres wrote a letter to CSU Chancellor Charles Reed praising the foundation for bringing Palin to campus. The foundation is charged with raising money to support the school, and it's technically not part of the university. "As the old adage goes, sometimes it takes money to make money. The sold out (with a waiting list) event that features former Gov. Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker for the 50th Anniversary Celebration was clearly a stroke of marketing genius; one that will clearly help fund student scholarships and other campus activities," the lawmakers wrote. Yee has been pressing the foundation to disclose her speaking fee, believed to be about $100,000.

I'm still angry over this issue. What is most troubling to me is there are two faculty members from the Biology department at CSU Stanislaus who have essentially incited the students of CSU Stan to protest this event by forming a Facebook page and encouraging participation in a protest. They are clearly ideologues who are using the impressionable kids at CSU to do their dirty work. In addition, if you view some of the posts, the kids believe their right to "protest" trumps Sarah Palin's right to speak. Last time I checked, the freedom of speech is guaranteed and will not be infringed upon by a protest. Academia is a scary place right now.

Any ideas on how to counter this activity by faculty members? An email campaign perhaps?

How about a counter protest by the Tea Party? Protest is a form of free speech. I don’t mind it unless it is violent.

I would love to see that. A counter-protest of reasonable open minded people vs the narrow minded group think people coming from academia today.

They are taking lessons from these future Taliban recruits at the University of Ottawa aka Taliban University, who manged to start a riot and prevent Ann Coulter from speaking. Of course some apparatchik at the university going by the name of Houle aka A'Houlle, was behind all this.:

Nothing new here. The loony left have been trying to crush freedom of speech of conservatives on university campuses for decades. This speech should and will go on, loony left professors or not.

Email campaign, faxes, phone calls etc are all good. Plus of course it's good that the local Republicans have come out strongly against the Taliban elements at the university. The politicians are able to get into the media more than we can, as proven by this story. God news is, all this palava will only garner even more publicity for her speech. I hope she hammers obozo and the Democrats rally good in her speech. :)
You got the names and email addresses of these 2 biology professors who are busy stirring up hate and crushing free speech?

Hey bf says she's good kisser apparently. Naaah..just kidding.

Looks like a hippo’s mouth!”

We could always send her to the hippo enclosure at the zoo for some schmoozing. The hippos can be every bit as nasty as she is. They will no doubt have plenty in common.
